Legally and securely notarize any document in minutes from your iPhone or iPad.
Notarize serves every American worldwide. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—even during holidays. Average wait time is less than one minute.
Traveling abroad and need a document notarized? Can’t find a notary near you? Have a time-sensitive request after business hours? Say hello to Notarize.
How it works: Upload or scan your documents. Next, take a picture of your license or passport and answer a few security questions - this is how we verify your identity. Then connect with a licensed Virginia electronic notary via an audio/video call to sign and notarize your document. Once your document is notarized, you can download, email, and access the file in the app at any time.
Notarize also accepts documents that require more than one signer.
Notarize agents are held to the highest standards and have completed training, undergone background checks, and independently hold insurance in accordance with notary industry best practices. All Notarize agents are electronic notaries located in Virginia.
Are online notarizations legal? YES. We’re able to provide this service thanks to Virginia Senate Bill 827 and House Bill 2318, which were passed in 2011, enabling Virginia-based notaries to perform electronic notarizations online. The service is available to any US citizen, even those traveling abroad, due to the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the U.S. Constitution as well as laws in every state that explicitly accept out-of-state notarizations.
Simply download the app to legally notarize any document, anytime, anywhere.

I love this app–easiest experience ever and a real life saver.
Let me tell you what happened: I was out of the country and needed a document notarized. Not sure if this was even possible, I tried googling the problem and found Notarize. What a joy to use: I easily scanned the document with my phone and connected to a friendly, professional notary. I signed the document, she notarized it, and for just 25$ my problem had been solved; a small price to pay for this level of flexibility and convenience.
I was immediately able to access a copy of my document–I could view it in the app and I could download or email it for further distribution. I’ll be sure to use Notarize for all my future notarizations!
Easy to use
This app is very easy to use. You just upload your documents to the app, verify your identity, and provide an electronic signature. The app connects you to a live video chat with a notary, who then provides an electronic stamp and seal to your documents. Everything is then emailed to you after you pay for your notarization.
I had complicated documents and want to express my sincere gratitude to the two notaries who worked with me to think outside the box to get them done. The notaries here are legit and know their stuff. The two I worked with were very professional and nice. They take their commissions seriously.
Please note that there is a long wait to talk to a notary. Right now, the app’s notaries are only available in four states, so everyone in the country who needs a document notarized is being funneled into four different states. The app advised me of which day and time to try, so I got up early and had no wait for a notary.
This app is revolutionary. Thanks so much for being here for us during this pandemic, when regular in-person notarization is not possible.
I needed to get a paper notarized and most places around here are closed due to the pandemic. So, at least partly out of curiosity, I tried this app.
I won't go so far as to say it went without any issues - but it went very well. The notary who helped me was very kind, efficient and patient with me.
Three first problem was it took a long time - not the actual notarization, the waiting. Blame that on the pandemic. Each time I tried I got a message saying very busy. Try between midnight and seven am. I finally got through about midnight - Arizona time. Then waited for another 40 minutes or so.
My biggest complaints are that the instructions could have been clearer. DON'T SIGN the form - obviously, but ... Fill out your address, etc. Notary needs to witness your signature only. Don't hold your ID, no part of your ID can be covered when you take a photo of it. All four corners off your document you want to get notarized must show in the photo.
$25 - I probably wouldn't use this service in "normal" times, but it worked great and I didn't have to leave the house.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
