General dilution guidelines for different ages are usually too general, listing a percentage and recommendations such as 1 drop per teaspoon. This is great, but doesn’t distinguish between the different recommended dilution ratios from Young Living listed on the bottle labels. Lavender requires no dilution for adults and Thieves specifies 4 drops of carrier oil to 1 drop of EO, so 1 drop in a teaspoon of carrier oil is not going to be the right amount for both of these oils! This calculator takes the guesswork out and recommends suggested dilutions based on age and the bottle label. Start slow and use anywhere up to that amount, depending on what feels right for you and your family.
**This app is the dilution calculator only** The Oily Notebook elves are hard at work on a full version that will display your personal notebook info from the website, though!!

Love the app would of given 5 stars but there is not a search button
Maybe I missed it totally but I could not find the search button after entering an oil, it just says clear search.

Hey!! Once you've entered the oil name, if you hit the "return" button on the lower right of your keyboard it'll initiate the search. Let us know if you have trouble with that!
I’m terrible with numbers and this app is perfect for when I’m trying to make a roller or one-time application. I know that oil bottles have the ratio of dilution of EO to carrier oils, but I have no idea what that looks like when I’m mixing a roller. Oh, and I LOVE the that the app has the option to see how much is safe for kids and little ones. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed something for my kids right away and this app saved my sanity.
I noticed a few single star reviews and why they were rated that way. I gotta say, it drives me crazy when people rate something (app, product, what have you) without understanding what it is they are actually upset about. For example: it’s called “Dilution Calculator” app, not “Oily Notebook” app. Don’t rate it at one star for not being something it’s not even claiming to be. Also, the peppermint person: read the notes at the bottom! The dilution gave the MAXIMUM safe amount to give to your little one, and even says to start with fewer drops the first time. Clearly, if you don’t agree, don’t do it.
Love this easy app!
I love how easy this app is to use and can’t wait until they make their full site into this app!
I like that the dilution ratios are for max number of drops, that way I know never to go over that amount. I start small, then adjust as needed!
I’m not sure what the above reviewer had a problem with... 10 drops of peppermint in a 10ml roller as the MOST safe amount of peppermint? That ratio is not off. A 10ml bottle has 200-ish drops, so 10 drops of peppermint into that is MAX a 5% dilution. Knowing where to place a roller with oils (being an educated oil user) especially with babies and kiddos is super important.
Sooo, yeah, no problem with the dilutions for me! I use them as guides for both of my little boys with no problem! :)
Love this app! 😍🙌
