Omber is a next-generation vector design app based on the latest diffusion gradient technology. Your creativity is no longer limited by having to work with solid color fills or simple gradients. Omber brings powerful soft shading tools to vector graphics. You can easily make dramatic color blends or subtle color transitions in Omber. Then, you can rescale, reshape, and recolor your art with no loss of detail.

Diffusion gradient technology allows Omber to reimagine the traditional vector graphics workflow. Instead of fills and strokes, Omber lets you combine shapes and lines into complex meshes that give you more flexibility in how you model your drawings.

Pleasantly surprised

I was prepared to go through a few rounds of wasting $5 to $25 each on a few programs to find a good lightweight vector editor when I am not in the mood for InkScape. First try, I find a free one that is excellent. This is an excellent program and I am very satisfied.

I have not used the Wrinkle Free or any of the gradient engine stuff yet. I just wanted an easy to use and reliable vector program to make some business cards and stickers. They came out so well I also ordered T-shirts and hats from the same files. I am really just so happy with this program. I am not an artist, I think geometrically and this program accomodates that. I am sure artists would find it easy to use as well.

The only feature this was missing that I would have wanted is layers. In addition to the standard benefits of layers, I also like to use layers to build my scaffolding and then hide the scaffolding in the final render. I got by without it though. So don't add layers if it messes up how easy the program is to use.

Thanks for your kind review.

Instead of layers, Omber offers similar functionality through its Groups. You first want to open the "objects list view" by choosing "Options"..."Objects List". Then using the "Select" tool, choose the shapes from your scaffolding and choose "Group" to group them together. Select the rest of your shapes and group them together into a different group. When you want to edit your scaffolding, choose your scaffolding group, then choose "Enter Group" to only work with the scaffolding. When you want to work on your drawing, choose the group for that, then choose "Enter Group". You can hide a group by clicking on the eye in the "objects list view".

The groups stuff is more general than layers, but it is more complicated. I'm still trying to figure out whether there's a better way to handle it.

Would like to see more

Very basic, very hard to figure out how to use the ‘selling point’ of using color blends/shading tool. Might help to make it more intuitive. Rough around the edges but, would like to see more.

Omber uses a completely new approach to gradients, so you will inevitably have to learn some new techniques compared to other vector drawing tools in order to get the most use out of it. It's very intuitive once you get used to it--just draw your shapes and add colors to the corners--but you have to set aside some time to learn this new workflow since your existing skills with other vector drawing tools won't carry over. No other vector drawing tool supports these sorts of gradients yet; only Omber has it. Omber does have built-in help documentation explaining some of the new concepts. On top of that, the Omber website at has some tutorial videos and links to a professional offsite tutorial that we sponsored.
