I miss my train because my connection flight in Amsterdam was delayed. The girl who I called from customer service leaves me on hold for 15 minutes while I am scrambling to change/find a new train to get to my destination after my flight. This woman picks back up starts speaking to one of her coworkers in another language and then just hangs up on me so I have to go to another platform. Then I get my train back to the airport to go home and Omio doesn’t want to tell me the platform my train is on! This app is honestly unbelievable and will take advantage of people’s flights being delayed/canceled and make money of an unfortunate inconvenience you face at the airport.

Horrible customer service

Used this company to book two train trips. 3 days before my first trip, Omio sent me an email informing of a strike that would effect my travel. Being on vacation, I quickly booked flights to avoid dealing with any hassle of trip interruptions. A day before the strike was supposed to start, I had learned the strike had been called off. Omio informed me I needed to contact the train company to receive a refund. They blocked my credit card company from reissuing me my money. Omio customer service through email told me multiple times that the process for a refund can be done online, however, after asking multiple times for screen shots on how to do it, another agent told me it was not possible to do online and everything had to be physically mailed in. I had mailed my information in June to the train company and still have not received any word on if I will be getting a refund. Because of Omio’s email, they should have refunded me my money.

The second trip I had booked through them went without a hitch. I would caution using Omio and book directly with the train company as much as possible.

Avoid Omio, book directly

I booked the train tickets on the app between Bolzano and Venice 2 days before departure. It was my first time there, so I was unaware of scheduled strikes in Italy. When I showed up at the train station all the trains were cancelled how it was scheduled long before!

Omio failed to mention this crucial detail during purchase, didn’t send any emails about cancellation, which would have saved me money on a taxi, and should have never sold those tickets in the first place. 

They refuse to help in any way with refund, saying I have to deal with it myself with Trenitalia, which proved to be extremely difficult, when you don’t live in Italy, and extra difficult because I booked it through Omio! If I’d have gotten tickets from Trenitalia, they’d be able to refund immediately at the station. 
And this was not the only instance they refused to help.

It ruined my trip and I am still waiting for a refund 4 months later.

The tickets were also more expensive than if I just got them directly from Trenitalia, so don’t be a naive tourist like me. It might be convenient at first, but you’ll end up paying more and if you have any issues they won’t help you.
