Speed up Dropbox files! YESSSS

This is EXACTLY what I have been missing. Thank you so much. I have been trying to find a way to SPEED UP the audio files I have as recordings (of meetings, mostly) saved to my dropbox. My use case is that I record calls, then want to listen to them again from the Zoom .mp4 file that is saved. This marvelous app allows me to do just that! note that the player itself doesn't have a shortcut button for speed adjustment (though that would be a feature I'd Pay for!). However, it's availalbe in the Playback menu, or simply by pressing "Command [" for slower, and "Command ]" for faster! Et viola! Love.

I only Rate it 4/5 stars because I have noticed a couple bugs the several months I've been using it.

1. After fast forwarding with right arrow key or going backwards with left arrow key, sometimes the video plays but the audio doesn't. I have to close the application And reopen for it to work again.

2. There was a bug that was around for 2 weeks after an update where fast forwarding or rewinding caused the audio to Buffer for 2 seconds before audio matched video. This made it extremely annoying to fast forward or backwards as I would have had to add an additional 5 seconds to accomodate the bug. This was fixed In the following update, but because of that I'm still weary to do any immediate updates.

3. Lastly, not a bug but a new feature i'd like to see. Currently the play Back speed are set at .75, 1, 1.25, .5. For some videos .75x speed is too slow while 1.0 is too fast. I wish there was an option to add your own playback speed.

1. For some video file, especially some video record file, this issue happens a lot, I tried to fix it one time, but it might bring more issues for other video files, so I quit, this need more time to investigate and find the best solution.
2. This one is related with the first one, haha, this is the side effect which I mentioned after I try to fix the first issue, but now I revert the solution, this one should be fine now.
3. For this feature request, I should consider in the early version, but I thought people might not be able to see the diffference between 0.75 or 0.6, but anyway I will reconsidering this.

Nice but needs a few fixes

This is one of the better video players I have used. Nice UI, clear and easy to navigate, with most controls one needs and some additional features requiring the "VIP" payment (e.g. subtitle display options, screen captures). However one problem is that internal subs are always loaded by default, despite turning off that option. Feature requests: high priority: hotkeys for cycling through audio tracks and the subtitle tracks (including none). Nice to have: 5:3 ratio (very common in European films); video bit depth shown in the nice media info box; show subtitle track titles in addition to language (useful when there are multiple tracks in the same language, e.g. forced vs full vs SDH).

FINALLY

I don't know why it is so difficult to find a video player app that lets you adjust the speed. I'm a law student and being able to listen to lecture on double speed is gold when they aren't posted to panopto or youtoube that have that option built in. Besides that, it's a very sleak design and uploads the files instantaneously. Very streamlined and easy to use, even if you aren't techy.

Key Features Missing

This is a decent app for casting to various devices. I use mine to cast to Roku and it works quite well for the purpose. I’m using an old Mac as a server for movies, TV shows and concerts. With that application however, there is one minor but extrememly important feature I wish this app would incorporate.

It needs both the ability to create and SAVE playlists along with the ability for said playlists to save where ai left off watching said playlists. If it only had those two capabilities it would serve as my own private home streaming service.

Paid for VIP, some paid features disappointing

I was using IINA, but wanted a solution that could also stream. This looked to be the perfect solution with some great added features like GIF making!
Unfortunately, whenever you use auto transcoding during casting to start to cast a video, fast forward/rewind while casting, or skip to a different spot in a video while casting it pegs your CPU to nearly 100% use for 5-10 minutes. It seems that it's trying to load all of the transcoding up front instead of distributing it as a task throughout the stream. It makes my fan go crazy and CPU/GPU temps spike to scary levels.

Was my preferred audiobook player

...until the latest update took away the free, yet vital bookmarking feature. I don't mind paying for functions, but I don't like being forced to pay for a bookmarking feature that is fairly standard (and previously free until the sudden switcheroo).

Otherwise, it's a nice player that's easier to use than the Mac music player. Please put the bookmark feature back. This is not a perk I can't get free elsewhere.

Play almost any video formats

Versatile video player. Play almost any video formats. Many other useful functions are implemented in it.
Wish I can play or pause the video by using mouse click any where on video display.

Updated: Great! Playrer has been updated. Now you can select Play/Pause with a mouse click.

Very simple platform, perfect for playback

I just needed a super simple platform for .mkv file type playback and this is the first and only app I found for that purpose. You don't need premium, the free version is great for simply viewing those file types. Very happy that basic software like this is still free

Works Great Again

Was crashing for a while after an update but the developer contacted me and fixed the bug that was causing the crash. I like the interface of this app and the extra functions. I am glad it is working well again.
