Care has been taken to give the model the correct handedness (right, not left, as in so many erroneous depictions), base pairs per turn, and a visual representation of DNA strand polarity. If you don't know exactly what handedness is, you will get a feel for it by being able to compare a right-handed model with a left-handed one (always labeled imaginary).
The app also offers a couple of simulations that show laboratory phenomena--denaturation and renaturation--important in biotechnology. You can see the two DNA strands completely separate under simulated heating that breaks the chemical bonds (visually speaking) which normally keep them together in their intertwined helices. Then the strands can recombine in a satisfying display of bonds reforming and strands rewinding.

Fixed problem that kept the Key to Model Components window from displaying. Simulated renaturation of DNA programmed to happen much faster.

Nice app but not worth 5 bucks.....
It delivers as advertised, and provides a DNA strand to roll around on the screen and does a good job of providing basic info on DNA if you are willing to read, but it's overpriced. I think if it was a dollar it would be a good buy. It runs well and does not crash, but it's only engaging for a while. You can tell a lot of hard work went into the model.
This would be an excellent app for a teacher or instuctor.
Not Like What I Expected
I thought I was going to be able to manipulate the DNA strands. Wasn't able to do that. The DNA structure that is showed on the sample is the only DNA strand that is on the app... you can't change it around or add anything to it.

I'm sorry OnScreen DNA Model wasn't what you'd hoped for. However, it is exactly as described, giving an accurate picture of how DNA is put together in a 3D model (which does come apart and reconnect in an animation of a real physical process), and it doesn't crash.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
