This app is amazing and is a life saver, I use this app every single day to get to and from work. Multiple times I have had a track change last minute but was not notified about it at the station, this app immediately updates you if there is a track change and also tells you if there are any delays. The time of departure and arrival are also spot on. Before i found this app I was using the TrainTime app from Metro North but it is not as user friendly as this onTime app. Also, with the TrainTime app from Metro North you have to put in an exact time of departure/arrival to pull up the schedule and it gives you all trains 2.5hrs before and after your selection, with this app however you just click on the app and your preset departure and arrival stations are right there with the schedule for the entire day for you to browse and with the simple click of the swap button it will swap your arrival/departure station so you can pull up the times for your return trip home. I definitely give this app 5/5 stars as it has saved me from missing my train on numerous occasions. I highly recommended onTime to anybody who commutes regularly.
The latest update which adds carpooling, totally breaks the functionality I’ve enjoyed for years. First of all, I was forced to switch from the MNR dedicated version to this generic version because the verification email links only point at this version’s App Store page, not the version I’d actually been using. Secondly the verification emails don’t open the app. Therefore the app never gets the notification that the email address is verified. Instead, the verification emails always open the link to the App Store. When pressing the open button in the App Store takes me to the app but doesn’t cause the email verification to complete. I’ve tried it a dozen times, with it feeling 100% of the time. This new version also refuses to hold my default route. I have to bring up one of my favorite routes in order for it to open anything. Previously when I would open the onTime app, it would show my default schedule. Now I have to explicitly select it every single day. If you have not yet upgraded, for the love of all that’s good, please do not do so. Developer, please fix this rubbish.
Thanks for your feedback. Please note these have been fixed in the latest version. For faster responses, please email support@mobilewareinc.com
So often times I'm running late and need to know when the next metro north train is running. In comes "on time". It not only counts down to when the train leaves, it tells you what track it's departing from and if there any delays. It also gives you estimated time of arrival for each station stop which helps let whoever is picking me up when to show up. Over all happy with the app, on gripe is that sometimes while entering my info and scrolling through the available trains the app freezes and then closes unexpectedly . Which is quite a pain when I'm 2 mins away from the trains taking off. It Also happens when switching from MNR to LIRR schedulers. I also really like to you can go search trains that have already left and find out where they are and when they will to they're destinations. Overall a 4.5 starts definitely.-FT
So far I’m really liking this app. I got frustrated with NJT app not working and new there must be something better. This app is it when it comes to schedules. It automatically detects what station I’m closest to and shows me the schedule for the train line I’m interested in (you set settings for train line you want). Supposedly it will push me notifications on significant delays but thankfully I haven’t run into any yet. It also “predicts” what track your train is arriving on which is great for commuters at NY Penn Station where it’s a mad dash for the train once they show the track on the screen in the station.
The app works fine, it's a bit clunky when starting out. You can read the other reviews. However the programmers left out an important function that worked in the old app. The schedule listing dropped any connecting trains. If your'e traveling the costal line from Newark to Spring Lake, all the Long Branch connections are not listed. You have to change your selection to Long Branch - Spring Lake. Flipping back and forth is really annoying. Those connecting tours are still listed in the old app. Newark -Spring Lake shows all the touts including connections in Ling Branch.
This app is perfect!!! I am a daily commuter into NYC from Long Island this app even though not connected to the MTA provides better updates & information than the MTA! The track assignments are always correct which help beat crowds and get a seat and the times couldn’t be more accurate. Even if you see a mistake with the schedule and you refresh it the mistake will usually be fixed! I definitely recommend this app to anyone who needs an easier commute! Keep making great updates.
