Good App but needs a few Improvements

I really like the idea of being able to track and share expenses with a co-parent without needing a full blown communication app. But there are a few things that would make it so much easier. In PA, the custodial parent (who has them the most) is required to pay the first $250 before bills are split. So I STILL have to track the amounts in a separate spreadsheet to know when the 50/50 split begins

I also wish there was a way to export the individual expenses as a pdf that included the images. And same but as a whole using the filters. I need to provide other parent monthly expenses and need the proof - would be nice to be able to export and email. He refuses to get the app but I want it for tracking and because it’s court admissible. I’d love to be able to filter to one child and send all related expenses by date order. The only export all lumped together with links to photos - and other parent isn’t so excel/tech saavy to know what to even do with that. Plus I am not sure if the links open to view the image in the excel export if you do not have the app installed.

Easy

As a single parent I am very appreciative that this app is FREE and so user friendly. The simpler the better. Still trying to get my ex to hop on the app but I did some research on other apps and this one seems to be the simplest to use. Being a single parent is already stressful enough. I don’t need to add how to figure out a co parenting app to the mix. This makes it easy. I like that the app is finance forward. A calendar where shared time can be displayed would be a plus but ultimately the most difficult part about Co parenting is getting the finances right. This is just easy. All I need is a place where my ex and I can visually see expenses and pay expenses clearly. This app is it. I was struggling with spreadsheets before I found this app. I’m grateful and I’m looking forward to see how this app develops.

Expenses day Settled but payment never arrived

This is the second time that the app shows expenses have been settled but there is no email showing the payment came through, and the funds never arrived.

The first payment said it was made through Zelle. No email came to confirm that payment was actually being sent, and the second time it is Venmo, exact same scenario. How does onward handle payments through services like these which should hit the other parents account immediately? With the bank transactions, I received an email confirming the payment was made and should arrive in xx days time. When I reached out to customer support they told me that I’d have to follow up with Zelle if the payment never came through. . Clearly the integration with these services is not working well and has some bugs which need to be fixed.

I also am unable to find where to add or change my payment account after setting up the app.

This app is exactly what we needed!

I was looking for an app that was reliable, intuitive, and easy to implement. Many times apps go overboard with the bells and whistles and it only complicates the process. This has the perfect balance.

It's a must have app and makes uploading receipts or expenses, identifying the expense, and splitting costs anxiety free! There are a few reports that I will look at from time to time, but it's a Birdseye view of how the funds are being spent and another available tool.

Everything is in one place! I'm not always the most organized so knowing that I can rely on reviewing past history of what has been paid, charged or reviewing reports gives me peace of mind. Don't walk to the app-run!!

Lifesaver!

This app has made all the difference with our coparenting expenses! It’s all there for each to see what’s been paid and outstanding. I love that we can label them for specific kids and categories. I especially appreciate it’s linked with Venmo so when it’s paid it shows paid in Onward. Only addition I’d like to see added is reoccurring expense options. All in all I recommend this app!

Perfect for that narc in your life

My estranged partner is someone who is never consistent, it’s even months I downloaded this and had my receipts and payments in check. I had stopped using this app for a little while after thinking “maybe he will never ask for proof” but redownloded it after suddenly having the ex ask you for a random purchase 6 months back. Thank goodness! Great app.

Glitchy

I like this app. I wish my ex would follow up with it and add his stuff in. My complaint is that I can’t finish an expense upload on my iPhone it doesn’t show the entire screen and I have to go in to modify/edit the expense to fill in each category.

For example. I’ll add the title and the expense amount and then can’t scroll down, it will prompt me automatically to settle the expense with no other options. So I have to hit settle - then go back in to edit each section. Won’t allow me to do it all in one shot.

Very user friendly

The app is very straight forward and easy to use. After making suggestions to the Onward team, the app is even better than before. It’s appreciated they take suggestions seriously from actual users in order to create the best version possible. Highly recommend!

Love this app!

Just wanted to thank you for creating such a great app. My ex and I have been using it and it has simplified this part of our coparenting greatly! We all know that money is one of the biggest sore spots in a divorce. This app has really helped us keep things straight and reduced the tension that comes with it. Love all the recent changes made.

Thank you!

Huge help

This app has totally changed the way me and my co-parent handle and talk about expenses. It has made such a big impact on our relationship - we don’t argue nearly as often, we just don’t have to talk about expenses live anymore, I don’t have to get annoyed by pointless text threads anymore, and I just generally don’t stress about expenses as much.
