Had high hopes but sadly, was wrong

I had high hopes for this app after purchasing the Ooma Butterfleye camera as an add on to my Ooma Telo. I have had the app for a few weeks now and every time I am away from my house, I get an error that Lan streaming fails. I am given a choice to proceed to cloud streaming and that results in a streaming error too! It has by far been the most frustrating app on my iOS.
It is able to detect unfamiliar faces but when I am notified on my phone, I can’t seem to access the recording of the unfamiliar face? And I get notified multiple times without an option to stop notification!! Arghhh. I realize it’s still in its beta stages but honestly the developers have a lot more work to do to get rid of its quirky bugs in the system before I will recommend this to anyone!!! One of the other bugs is that the camera goes off line intermittently! When you are away from home and relying on a security camera to keep an eye on things... reliability is crucial but sadly this system is lacking in that aspect!! I do like that you can set a privacy mode based on your phone’s location! Other pluses is that there is an ability to talk through your camera to what is being viewed! Let’s hope the next iteration fixes all of these bugs!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We've made major improvement towards connectivity, streaming and others since this review has been posted.

Please note the LAN streaming only works when you are connected to the same WiFi as the camera are connected to. As for your other streaming problems, our camera do require a minimum of 1MBPS upload speed to work. To check for your speed please make sure you are not connected to WiFi then go to www.speedtest.net to check your mobile data speed.

Facial recognition: it is recommended to place the camera as close as eye level as possible, that way your camera can capture much more clear shots of the face for detection.

Best Security Camera

This by far is the best Security Camera I’ve ever purchased. I’ve had my share of Security cameras and they have always fallen short in terms of video quality, facial recognition.
This camera by far is the best camera for facial recognition. Initially when you set it up it continues to learn the faces of the ones that come in contact with the camera. It’s does a great job at it.
The quality of the video is excellent.
What I really love is that these cameras have rechargeable batteries and they don’t need to be plugged into a power source to function. They will continue to record even without an internet connection.
Trust me you will not be disappointed with this camera.

Rubbed the wrong way

I have actually never even reviewed an app but I have disliked this purchase so much I feel I must. I purchased this camera when it was kickstart. It took over two years to arrive. But not only that, the basic features they advertised would be available on the camera like 2 way audio, night vision, etc are now only available if I purchase a ridiculously priced subscription. It’s so insulting. Unfortunately after this experience I’ll never support another kickstart again as I was unaware they could even do this. I have friends who purchased cameras for much less that have all these basic features and don’t have to pay for a subscription. So this was all around a negative purchase for me. Now they are giving more free storage but yet I have to delete video daily for it to even to continue to record. So now it is a nuisance that doesn’t even regularly record if I don’t tend to the app. Definitely not a way to advertise a product with lies, or a way to treat people who didn’t even have the product in their hand for nearly 3 years.
