Description

Orbacam lets you create on-the-fly musical selfies, soundtrack your world, and turn everyday moments into Fantasia-like dreamscapes. Add a beautiful melody to your coffee break in the park. Sync a driving beat to your skate video – with a song you made yourself. Or turn otherwise dull moments into musical jokes for your friends and followers. You can even score your memories by importing videos and photos right from your camera roll.

With Orbacam, it’s easy to jump between Drum, Bass, Chord, and Lead modes. The sounds and visual effects are automatically baked into the video export – no audio routing or post-production is required. You can combine dozens of sounds with different video effects, including Split, which separates your image across the RGB spectrum, and Pixel, which makes your video look like a pixelated 80s computer game. The combinations are truly endless.

Orba players get to have even more fun: connect Orba via Bluetooth, and you’ve got a mobile video studio at your fingertips. The results are colorful, highly-shareable videos that sync automatically with whatever you’re playing on Orba.

Love the update with onscreen playing

The new update is super cool! They added onscreen playing so now you can make music and add VFX directly in the app. Reminds me of TikTok meets GarageBand. Artiphon is always innovating and coming up with unique creator tools - 5 stars!

Cool concept, pretty limited

Really love the concept of having live video reactive to the instrument. The AR features of this
App give you a taste of the future of combined visual/sound effect, but feel really limited and basic when you’re used to the vast creativity of Instagram and Snapchat filters. I hope they update it with more filters, and I’m curious if they can up the reactivity of the filters to the sound (it seems to respond only to initial hit, but the visual doesn’t change if you are holding a note and moving the instrument to change volume). With more creative visual movement options and deeper sound reactivity, I think this would be a really expressive app. Right now it’s a fun toy but im not spending much time with it. Also, not a fan of the Orbacam stamp at the bottom of the screen, I get it, but makes the experience feel cheaper and less artistic.

Thank you for the feedback :)

It’s fine

It does what it says, it’s just something that sound cooler than it is (for me). The music-making is cool, albeit way better on an actual Orba. Although if you have an Orba, this app has more sounds than the actual Orba app for some reason. If the idea is to sell people on Orba, this isn’t really a value-add for the device. If the idea is to stop developing for Orba in favor of Orbacam, I recommend just doing it from the ground up rather than trying to squeeze two concepts together.

Either way, it makes me hesitant to buy whatever Artiphon puts out next unless I see a recommitment to making Orba into a great device for at least one function instead of “fine” for multiple ones.

Thanks for your review! We take feedback very seriously. We're constantly working on improving Orba and Orbacam. We have big plans for both and can't wait to show you what's in the next update. Please be sure to keep your apps and Orba firmware on the latest updates to ensure the best musical experience.
