Description

Easy to use terminal program.

oTerminal is an universal and easy to use terminal program for ethernet communication (TCP/IP) and for serial ports (RS232/RS485).

With oTerminal and a standard ethernet to serial converter, it is easy to connect serial devices with different baud rates. It is also possible to connect ethernet devices that use a low level binary protocol such as Modbus. To connect direct to a RS232/RS485 port, a serial (usb) device adapter/converter and driver is needed.

If you have a problem using oTerminal, please don't write a review, but send us an e-mail so we can help.

I saw the review that mentioned Hercules on Windows. I often drop into Windows to use Hercules as an Ethernet terminal device. Purchased this based on that review.

For the most part, it works. At least, once I figured out I had to convert CR->CR/LF. However, it would have been nice to have a CR->LF conversion option. Other than that, it does exactly what I need-avoid having to run Windows to do simple Ethernet terminal work. (FWIW, I own "Serial" for the Mac, so I've never tried the RS-232 facilities).

I do wish you could open multiple windows with different Ethernet connections.

It worked for my Serial connections.

I usually don’t write reviews and just leave it up to others to comment. I initially bought it to console my Watchguard Firebox modded with pfSense. No problems/easy setup. I just bought a Foundry Fastiron LS648. Swapped my settings and compatible cable... bam. Works. I’m familiar with Windows Putty, and it does a lot, but just get me on the job to do what I need to do. It works and works very well! 5 star recommend. I hope the keywords pick up in the iTunes search engine. I scoured the web for an Apple app such as this. People should know about this solution outside of the Apple ecosystem. It solves a huge issue rather than messing with OS X terminal, or pulling out the Windows machine.

Supports both Ethernet and RS-232 Connections

When I need to communicate with a device in which testing the IP over RS-232 comm layer is necessary, I used to have to bust out my PC and run an app called "Hercules". Now, I no longer require the PC to have an ethernet terminal session. And this app also supports serial connections which makes it very flexible, and is icing on the cake.
