Rented a higher end RV to go beach camping for the forth of July weekend. Arrived at the site and after unpacking, opened the sink drawer to find a family of roaches running around. There were roach traps and roach spray, but a roach issue had never been disclosed to us. We thought about roughing through it, but then opened the drawer under the table area where our five year old daughter was going to sleep. Surprise. More roaches. We packed up and returned the RV the same day. It’s been five days since the incident and I have not yet received a refund. Customer service said sorry and that someone from a disputes team would be in touch. No one has contacted me yet. I’m not sure anyone would want a hotel room with roaches, an Airbnb with roaches or an RV with roaches. It’s just downright gross. Host was kind and helpful, but also overlooked multiple things (linens were stained, no pillow cases, black mold on curtains, undisclosed dash cam that recorded our conversations, fridge was dirty and had not been cleaned). RV drove well and host was pleasant to work with, which is why this is not a one star review. I just wish outdoorsy would have taken my issue more seriously and made it a priority to address and resolve. Also, a day after unloading, my wife found a roach inside our house and now we need to pay for an exterminator to come. Just an all around nightmare situation caused by lazy hosts and mediocre platform rules.

Hi Brian, I'm so sorry to hear you had this experience on your very first Outdoorsy trip. No one wants to contend with pests and all the other issues you mentioned while on a family vacation, and it's certainly not the intended experience we'd prefer our guests to have. I've reviewed your booking, and I see that the host agreed to a full refund without the need for a dispute. Regardless, I'll be reaching out to you personally to discuss this further. Your time is valuable, so thanks for taking a moment to share your feedback. -Jaime, Customer Experience Specialist

I’m not even sure where to start….the authentication problem reported months ago still exists even though app is updated. 5 taps (I just counted) to simply check my messages. Which I’ve had to do about a dozen times today because the payment system isn’t functioning. I tried to book a reservation using a card we’ve previously used and saved, but the app errored out with a message about a problem cvv, name, or expiration date yet no way to check that info. So I added a new card which I triple checked but the Submit button never worked. So I exited the reservation to add the card in our payment profile, and the app then expired the reservation and I couldn’t rebook. So I needed to message the host then call Outdoorsy support to try to make the camper available again so I could start the whole process over. They were going to fix the availability problem (had same problems yesterday leading to same availability problem; they fixed availability) but never did fix it today. We ended up moving our campsite reservation out a few months because we had no idea if we’d have a camper tomorrow. Oh, btw, support told me to try the website, hence this review of the app. This doesn’t even include the fact the “2 minute survey” button never worked. They do have friendly support representatives and I was able to talk to an actual person pretty quickly (multiple times today). And our prospective host was amazing as we tried to make this work. So…people good, app bad

Terrible customer service

We booked an RV with a host 2 months in advance. Several days before our trip, our host simply stopped responding to us. Finally, the day before our trip, we called the customer support line, and each time they said they would get back to us in 2 hours. We did that FOUR TIMES in the same day. Finally, on the fifth call, they started to say the exact same pawn-level script the drones at outdoorsy are taught to say. We interrupted and said it was entirely unacceptable that we have wasted all day twiddling our thumbs waiting for them to “finish our investigation”. Look, outdoorsy, our trip is tomorrow, we don’t have time for an “investigation”. We were able to find another person, NOT using outdoorsy, to rent us an RV last minute. It took us 15 minutes what your “professional team” couldn’t even begin doing all day. Outdoorsy gave us a full refund without any issue, so chops to them on that. What would have been the RIGHT answer from outdoorsy is “We are sorry the host isn’t responding. Unfortunately, we don’t have control over our hosts, and we don’t have the ability to find you a new RV host by your requested booking date and time. The best we can do is give you a full refund, and we are sorry we can’t do anything more”. That would have been a perfectly acceptable response and understandable given the business model and situation. Instead, giving us the runaround all day made us waste valuable time in tracking down an RV.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

icu nurse that deserved better
This app seemed like Airbnb for rvs, however between one app issues, atrocious customer service and shady owners I feel completely ripped off. Owner mark gondola tried to charge me 400 extra dollars for my pet two days before trip. Then upon return of trailer immediately let me know I would not be receiving my 500 dollar security deposit and proceeded to insist I “unhitch and leave” before I even had time to park the trailer. Proceeded to speak to me very loud and abrasively while attempting to unhitch than threatened to call police if we did not leave immediately. As a brown man in the United States in the time of George Floyd this was exceptionally uncomfortable. I thought that calling customer service after leaving would help. Outdoorsy seems to have outsourced their customer support to another country . They told me the dispute department would be in touch with me and because the owner had not followed proper return protocols I would have a good chance of getting my deposit back, however, never offered me anything for the disrespect and horrible experience I had with the owner. The dispute claims department does not talk to me on phone or provide number to reach them ... only template emails .... it has now been five weeks since my security deposit was taken from me and this situation is not resolved.... I feel like I must take legal action.... 500 dollars is not a small sum. Please don’t use this app guys

Thanks for using the Outdoorsy app! Here's what's new: - Added a country code picker to phone number fields - Added a heads-up at checkout when you already have a request for overlapping dates - Improved your trip page with clearer request and cancellation status, plus how long you can still cancel for free - Improved photo uploads at pickup and return so they keep going in the background and show their progress - Improved layouts on iPad and larger screens - Improved app performance, speed, and stability
