  • Good dictionary, but it could be even nerdier

    I very much enjoy this app and keep it on the first screen of my phone. People are constantly using words in new ways, and I like to look them up just to see the original meaning and usage. My only suggestion (and why I removed one star) is that I wish there was a more complete etymology of each word. That’s what I find really interesting.

  • Great Dictionary with a lot of ads

    This is by far the most expansive dictionary, but has a ridiculous amount of ads on the free version. When it comes to archaic words, non-American spellings, and other wise unique phrases, this is the best dictionary. However, if you occasionally need to find a definition or pronunciation, you shouldn’t use this dictionary, the ads will drive you mad.

The Premium license is designed for customers managing multiple mailboxes and engaging in intensive mail activity across numerous accounts. Payment is required for the ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and development of current and future features.

    Wondrastoopilous!! My daily companion, as I’m always curious about definitions and pronunciations. I revisit words by testing my memory’s remembered definitions. It’s hard to beat having an interactive dictionary when testing my ability to break down unknown words as I’m attempting to blindly define. I wouldn’t change a thing about the app.

  • Ads on Premium

    I paid for a premium account when I installed the app and have enjoyed an ad-free experience for more than a year. I just recently started having un-skippable minute-long ads show up after every other word—unbearable. When I go to my account information, I’m signed in, and it still says “Premium.” I would not have paid that big chunk of change, if it wasn’t really going to be premium. When it’s just being a dictionary, it’s great. Now, seems like a scam. Super disappointed.

    I have a premium account, but when I try to look up words I often get a 'something went wrong' message and nothing works. Pressing 'help' gets me a cloudflare page showing me some green tick marks and a red x. I'm not using a vpn. Beyond this, as a dictionary it's nothing like what it should be even if it did not have the 'Oxford' in the title, and occasionally I get no result when I type in a word I can easily find in other dictionaries. Zero reason to use this app at all, much less pay for it.

I’m really sorry for the trouble you’ve been experiencing.To start, please try updating the dictionary database inside the app:Go to “Choose dictionary” → tap the download arrow next to the dictionary you’re using. This refreshes the content and often resolves lookup issues.Regarding the Cloudflare message, there was a global Cloudflare outage recently that caused temporary connectivity problems across many services.   • Poor Company and Business Practices

    I purchased this app a long time ago so that I wouldn’t have to deal with advertising. Now they have changed their terms and make you pay monthly or annually to avoid advertising or to get the same service you once purchased. Poor company and business practices! I would like a refund on my original purchase because I never would’ve purchased their product if this was going to be the terms of their service. Waste of money.
