Pace is a nationwide bike sharing service coming to cities and colleges across North America. Pace features “smart bikes” that can be rented with just a smartphone and credit card. And unlike other bike sharing services, Pace features no membership fee, lots of high-quality bikes that people enjoy riding, and the freedom to start and end rides at Pace racks or any public bike rack. Pace even lets you “hold” your bike during short stops so it remains yours throughout your journey.

Our goal with Pace is to create a movement where shared bikes are a part of people’s everyday. To help people get where they’re going in a way that is more efficient and more direct — but most importantly more enjoyable. There is a special joy to creating a life on a bike, and we want to bring that to every city and college across America.

App froze, 20min phone wait...

First time user today. When I tried to lock my bike to the official Pace rack the orange slider would not slide down to lock. The app froze on ‘prepared to lock bike’ and would not let me look up FAQs or any other info. Called customer service, waited 20 minutes, and then was disconnected. Called back and learned I had to turn off Bluetooth, force close the app, and re-open Bluetooth reopen the app and then it let me slide the locking mechanism. This was my first time using a Pace bike and I must say I wasted a lot of time with the frozen app and the wait for phone service.

4 out of every 5 times you will find disappointment, not a bike.

TL;DR: app is unreliable, says there are bikes where there aren’t 4/5 times. Terrible for commuting.

If you use these bikes for recreational purposes, then it is perfect for you. If you use it to commute, then you are better off earning some money and buying a cheap bike at any walmart. As a college student with a tight schedule on a huge campus, I need a fast and reliable method of transportation to get to my classes in my impossibly small window of time. I used Pace for about three weeks to make sure my review was fair; and it is. While you will find it convenient to find a bike and ride away for an insignificant 5 dollars a month, you CANNOT trust the app. About 4/5 of the locations where it says there is a bike... well there isnt one (I actually calculated that number from my personal experience). The bikes are great and reliable, but the app will seldom show you the real locations of bikes. This has made me late to several classes already, which led me to decide to finally decide to just buy my own bike. If they could fix this problem by actually putting gps on the bikes rather than just going off of an outdated location, then this app would be perfect. I would love to rate it 5/5 stars, but it is just too unreliable.

Enjoying my ride

Finding a bike was easy. Today was my first ride and your first 30mins are free only catch is you have to load $3.00 credit to your account before your able to redeem it. There are bike racks close to some dining areas so that was convenient for the place we were going. The only small issue I had was locking my bike back to a rack but the app immediately asked was I near the bike and im assuming it used gps to find it then I was done. I will definitely be using this again.
