Easiest 5-star rating ever

I submitted an earlier 4-star rating that basically said "great app; one bug, contacted the developer and there hasn't been time for him to get back to me". Later that same day I got an answer and a solution (my error, not his). Consider this the current review.

With that said, I'd consider this an essential app for web development. Color palette management has always been a series of compromises for me, but no more. If you have any knowledge of basic color theory at all (and even if you don't, truth be told) you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you’re able to do with ease. The WCAG color checking is worth the price of admission right there. I've got a bunch of color apps. This is the one I use.

This app needs two more features...

I like the way this app works! It's very fun just to experiment with and play around in. After only 10 minutes of having the app open, I've come across a missing feature that is make this app challenging to intergrate into my workflow fulltime, even just in this short amount of time...

Drag and Drop... This would make it possible for the work i'm doing within the app to be transferable to the program I am working in at that time. Pallets aside, drag and drop is borderline a must with what I am doing.

For anyone who's looking at this app, the colors ARE drag and droppable into the pallets menu, so if that is enough for you then awesome! But you can not drag outside of the application. This is a minor short coming, but for $10 I feel like not having the system wide drag and drop is a bit of a let down...

I also feel like this app needs window height adjustment and full screen support as well. It would be really nice to be able to see all 30 swatches in the list on my bigger screens!

That being said, as a color-theory aid, this is excellent and I am already comfortable zipping around the interface.

Great App

This app has saved me tons of time. Working with colors is usually a challenge, as the tools that I'm used to using are too presumptive and/or limited in functionality. However this app delivers. It's a breath of fresh air created by someone who has clearly gone through the same experience that I have in working with colors and solved it for not only themselves but everyone else too. Kudos.

Great app, confusing UI

When you can figure out how to work with this app it's really good. It does suffer from a lack of clear UI design, though. It takes a decent amount of experimentation to figure out how to use it. Once you get it down, though, it's incredibly useful. There are some missing features, such as the ability to export a full color palette. If it does support this functionality then it's not very discoverable. Definitely worth the $10, tho.

Thanks for the overall good review! I agree that it can be a bit confusing at first, but I believe once you get over it, it’s worth not having the training wheels on. I’ll be sure to include at least a walkthrough in the next release. Best, Max

Beautifully Designed Utility

I had a need for easily getting color codes — and then I found Color Ninja and it solved that issue. This is a really well executed and unique interface that makes working with color and extracting useful color data easy. I find myself even using Color Ninja to imagine, explore, and discover even more than I use it as a utility. Well done. Top notch.

Great app-

updating my review- my compaliant was I lost my pallets from the previous version. The developer was on the case imediatley and got me back up and running with my old pallets. Things happen, I get it— The support is what matters and they shined with their support for me. The app is great! You wont be sorry you have it! Great value too IMO.

Sorry that this happened - I did not anticipate that changing the application name could lead to data loss. The good news is, the data should remain on the device and it should be easy to get it back.

Go to:
1. Close the application
2. Go to MacintoshHD/Users/yourAccountName/library/Containers/ooo.toysinc.colorninja/Data/Library/Application Support
3. Delete the "Paletter" folder
4. Rename the "Color Ninja" folder to "Paletter"

Please send an email if you run into further issues.

P.S. in the next major version, Paletter will have an export feature.

I use it every day

In my web design and app building business, I use this app literally many times a day. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the documentation is minimal. It took me a while to figure out how to export schemes, which is a right click on the scheme in the pallette list.

Thank you!

I just bought your app, and I'm already making progress to my goals. I wanted to point out how sweet the feature of being able to customize the copy format is. Exactly what I needed! Thanks!

NOT Color Schemer Studio

Sorry, very disappointed to be sent to this app from the ColorSchemer website. Color Schemer Studio 2 offered color wheel palette creation and exportable palettes. This app is a real disappointment, with it's blocky swatch-based interface and unsophisticated preselects. And perhaps it's just me, but I can't export for use with other apps. Bring back Color Schemer Studio 2, or 3, or 4.
