Preflight Safety for Paragliding is an educational app centered around the ten-minute film of the same name. While the film is aimed at increasing pilot attention to safety, the app gives pilots and dreamers a broader look at paragliding safety today, highlighting some of the methods, equipment, terms and sites that appear in the film.
Several issues were fixed, including random exits, a video controller for the film, and proper toggle button behavior for the Glossary tiles.

A nice brochure + video
The review title pretty much says it all. Just to be clear, THIS IS A BROCHURE WITH A 10min VIDEO IN IT. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a very nicely made brochure with good BASIC information. It seems like the sort of thing you might pick up in an adventure sports shop or tourist stop entitled “So, you want to learn to fly?” Very useful information that may not be best placed in the App Store for the sake of visibility. It is perhaps better suited to be the first Google hit when somebody goes online to find out “what’s this thing people were doing with the really big parachute.” As a P2 USHPA member, this is not informative to me, but I would totally support making sure this is internet search hit #1 to help direct new/potential pilots toward safe practices and good resources ...maybe not an app. 😬
Great Resource for Beginners
As a P2 in training I find this to be a nicely organized and informative app that I'm sure I'll come back to numerous times during my training. I find the video and interactive resources to be a helpful way to learn valuable information that complements my book learning and practical experience. As an experienced rock and ice climber I really appreciate the emphasis on basic safety measures. More than one climber has lost his life by not checking worn out gear or properly buckling a harness.
Great for learning the basics.
This app provided great visuals for learning the basics about paragliders, important terms, and safety points. I will revisit in the future to brush up on things for sure.
