Unusable until there is security
Pastor for Mac is great. One of the things I like the best is how secure I feel using it to protect, well, everything. I was skeptical when the instructions told me to export my data as clear text to begin with, but I assumed that once it was on the phone every precaution had been taken to secure what is ultimately the most important information I have. Nothing. There is literally nothing besides my pocket. Even Groupon has a 4 digit sign in, which ironically I could find out what the four digits were by opening this unsecured app easier than I can use the groupon app itself. I uninstalled it immediately. This information is simply too important to leave unattended. Please add some security, and honestly I would hope it be strong security at that. I have faith in the developer and will be glad when the app is usable.
Really Great App
I’ve been using the desktop version for years now! It’s been my go-to app for holding my passwords, as it’s easy, convenient and simple to use. I was pretty surprised to see the mobile app, so I decided to give it a try and it’s been great so far!
Like the desktop app, it’s super simple to use. I do agree with JTdesign that the security on the app is none. You can open it just like Safari or iMessage…no password needed, which is a little counterintuitive. Since I downloaded the mobile app, I changed the password on my iPhone lock to 18 characters, so no one should be able to get into my phone and access these passwords.
Improvements - make it wireless. Every time you make a change or add a password on the desktop app, you have to plug in your phone and sync it with the mobile version in order to update it. I would also recommend being able to use the mobile version to add passwords. Right now, you can only add passwords on the desktop version, not the mobile version.
I still love the app, but there are a few improvements that should be made. Still worth my $1.99.
Finally, A Way To Take Pastor With Me
I have been a huge fan of Pastor for years. It is a fantastic, simple, easy to use password keeper. The biggest drawback has been the lack of a mobile version. Now it is finally here. You do need to be careful. Pastor Reader doesn't use an encrypted file like Pastor. This means you really need to have a lock on your iPhone If you have enabled the lock on your phone then you are relatively safe but you really need to be careful about this. I hope Markus comes up with a way to encrypt the PastorReader app so that a password is required.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
