Description
Projects PDF slideshows onto an external screen. If you have an Apple Watch, you can also use it as a remote control.
This app is useful if you write presentations using LaTeX Beamer, or LibreOffice Impress, or some other application that exports to PDF.
Simply open your PDF in the app and connect an external display (e.g., via VGA, HDMI, USB-C, or AirPlay). Your slides will be displayed full-screen on the external display, while the app provides additional navigation controls on your iPad or iPhone.
You can navigate on your iPad or iPhone by tapping and swiping, or using the buttons on the toolbar, or scrolling through the thumbnails, or using an external keyboard. When in landscape mode, you will also see a preview of the next page (which you can turn on/off using the button on the upper toolbar).
You can browse and open any of your iCloud documents, or you can share PDFs from your favourite app to open in PDF Projector.
WATCH REMOTE:
If you have an Apple Watch, you can use this as a remote control. Simply open a PDF document in the iPhone app and connect it to an external display, and then start the Watch app to use the remote control.
If you talk a lot between slides, try adding the "Next Page" complication to your clock face (requires watchOS 7). This will let you step through the slides without having to keep reopening the app. You can also configure Settings / General / Wake Screen (on any watchOS version) to keep the app on screen for longer while you present your talk.

- On watchOS 7 there is now a second complication that immediately advances to the next page. This avoids having to keep reopening the app if you talk a lot between slides.
- On iOS 13/14 you can now tap anywhere to advance pages (previously you had to tap outside the PDF).

Good use for my watch
The app works as advertised. I love that I can control the slideshow with my Apple Watch and show it on my AppleTV.
Having two controller screens is a great idea and works well. One only lets me go forward, so I won’t accidentally jump around and lose my place. The other lets me go forward and backwards, both one screen and all the way to the beginning or end.
On the iPad app, I like being able to pinch and zoom so I can read the text better. One feature I wish there was is a way to zoom what is presented on the Apple TV or other AirPlay target.
A second feature I wish I had was an integrated timer. I of course can set a timer using the watch’s main timer app, but I would like to be able to pace myself during the talk. If I could set a desired duration for the talk, assume a uniform amount of time per slide, and hit start, I would like to see the projected number of minutes I will go over or under, plus the elapsed time and remaining time. It could be set in a third controller screen, but optionally shown on the forward and back button controllers.
Even fancier is if I want to do a run through and the app recorded how many seconds I spent on each slide and used that to track how much over or under I am during the real talk.
Nevertheless, I find the app as-is to be quite useful.
