I currently use the application with electronic text books. I can easily create a bookmark anywhere within the text. The application generates a running list of all of the bookmarks I make. When I select a bookmark from the list, the application presents the bookmarked page. So, for example, I can bookmark a set of problems I am working on at the end of a chapter, and the answers to the problems at the end of the book, and then quickly switch back and forth between the two. This functionality, combined with the ability to select from the author's own predefined table of contents (called Outlines) as well as the application's content search capability, creates a comprehensive set of tools for quickly navigating anywhere I want to go pretty much instantly. I was not able to find all of these features in Adobe's pdf reader or in Apple's iBook application. There are several other features (which may very well be available in other applications) that help round out this application, such as zoom, multiple ways to navigate and scroll through the book, etc. So far, the only feature that doesn't seem to work as well I think it should is the manipulation of some of the drawing tools, such as the arrow tool. I wasn't able to modify the length of an arrow after I created it. I must say, however, that I haven't had time to thoroughly explore whether it was user error or a problem with the product. Overall I am very pleased with this application.

  • Grad student couldn't do without it.

I'm in a very rigorous grad school studying Traditional Chinese Medicine. I've owned this app for ten months now and I use it every day. The only issues that I've had have been when I kept the annotation/highlight function open for extended periods of time, flipping through multiple pages without pressing the "Done" button. When I've done that it has locked up on me and I had to reboot my iPad. Once I learned not to do that I haven't had any issues. I have pdf's that have over 300 pages and I'm able to search their content and make notes that are easy to relocate with the bookmarks function. I have another note taking app that has the ability to take notes on a pdf, but it chooses the place where you type your notes. The Adobe app allows me to choose the space on the page where I type. When given the choice, I don't download anything into my iBooks app anymore because it doesn't allow me to rename the document. The Adobe pdf app allows me to rename docs, organize them however I want, as many times as I want, and I'm able to send the pdf's to my Macbook Pro, email them, or store them on a web based server like the Drop Box app or iCloud. This app has enabled me to leave my laptop at home and use my iPad at school as a note taking device any pdf presentation that my professors give. I can't remember the exact dollar amount that I paid for the app, but it has been well worth every cent.

  • Great App; One Feature We’d Like To Have That’s Missing...

I’m a musician and my band and I have been using this app for a little over a year now and we love it! It’s very easy to use and we find it’s collaboration and annotation features beneficial to our workflow in that they maximize our time and keep us on the same page (no more fumbling through piles of paper to find page 2 or 3 of a particular song or the song sheet itself). One feature we would love to have added however, is the ability to use a Bluetooth page turner so we could use a foot pedal to turn pages. Being musicians, our hands are usually busy playing our instruments so turning pages can be a little cumbersome. The ability to use a foot pedal would greatly enhance this app in our opinion. That’s our only caveat when other musicians ask us what app we recommend for organizing and viewing our material. We realize this app wasn’t engineered for the working musician but everyone in my band has used other apps specifically designed for that purpose and this app suits our all-around needs better any others we’ve tried but we’d love to have that one missing feature. (I’m also a minister officiating weddings occasionally and a hands-free page turner would also be beneficial in my role as such.) Bottom line, we love the app! This is just a suggestion for a wish list item :) Thank you iTech.

I've been using this app for the last 3 years and it's by far the best PDF app you will find for the iPad. We are a team of 10 engineers, 20 sales guys and 5 IT guys, we all have been using this app for quite some time and we all agree is the best one out there, it's like a good wine, it only gets better with time, they don't update the app every week like other apps do (very annoying) but when they do they usually add some great features or they upgrade the user interface to make it even easier to use. One of the features we use every day is the online collaboration feature that allow us to work on the same PDF file even if we are not at the office, this is great for the sales team because they can get an update on our files in real time while they are selling our products. I also want to mention that the tech support team is just great, I had a small issue last week and they replied to me in less than a day (yes less than a day! that's just amazing) that why I decided to finally write a well deserved review to this app, not only because it works and it's great but because their support team was really really helpful and that's something you don't see every day. I'm just waiting to see what the next update will bring (hopefully some great additions to the features already has).

  • Great For What I Need!

If like me, you are not writing or editing PDFs, but simply managing and reading a large library of PDFs, and want to be able to house and read them as needed, and have compared other PDF readers to PDF Reader Pro, you may decide, as I have done, that the product is outstanding. In my case, I maintain a very large musical library of high resolution downloads and often want to refer to album liner notes or other info on composers and performers. Mostly these downloadable PDFs are rights protected by record companies, and therefore, impossible to edit in any way. It makes no sense to desire every possible collaboration feature when using managing such a library, and it makes even less sense to downgrade a product because it doesn't have such features. After comparing all the PDFs for the purpose that I use a reader for (which is store, manage the library and search and view individual PDFs, the product that I have find the best is this one, PDF Reader Pro for iPad. It stands apart, and if you don't at least try it, just because other reviews demand every feature, most of which, you may never need (and certainly not if you mainly use PDFs as I do), then sadly, it will be your loss. A great product, which I agree, stands apart from those products that try to be everything to everyone!

I should say to begin my review that this app does open my password protected textbook for my college. However, for me this is the only thing the app does well. As a student you need to be able to make notes and highlights within the document to be truly useful. If you can't high light you have to read the entire document again to find important quotes and statements. THIS MAKES THIS APP EXTREMELY LIMITED FOR STUDENTS! Other negative that I found is that the app crashes and quits nearly every time I try to open the book the first time and then the second time it opens. Also, if you download the entire book it takes several minutes to reopen the book each time you exit the app. I am able to download individual chapters and this is much more manageable. All this for me adds up to a very low rating for me. To be fair, It does open password protected documents AND I DO USE IT because it is the only app I know that can allow me to read my textbook on my ipad, but when all you can do is read it the functionality is very limited for a $10 app! My laptop can open the file without crashing and allows me to highlight and this is at no cost. But it is not practical for me to carry my laptop everywhere. I can not speak for any of the other things this app can do but all I use it for is reading my college texts currently. If I use it for other things I will update my review.
