Does not work…at all!

I can’t believe these app companies can get away with putting this junk out there. You’d think Apple would have some standards as to how well these apps work or if they even try to do what they claim to do. I have the PDF to Excel app which actually does the job, for the most part. This app, on the other hand, is a complete rip off. It doesn’t do anything even remotely close to what it clains to do. Completely useless!

Useful, but no perfect

I use this to convert my end of year business credit card summary, about 300 rows and 4 columns of data, to a Numbers spreadsheet format. It can’t do it on it’s own for some reason, but it’s a good starting place. It is able to detect groups of cell, but not seperate them first time. So usually I start with it i converting to Numbers, it’s quick and easy, delete all the junk until I have just the tables I need. Then I save that and turn it into a PDF which I then open with Nuance PDF Converter for Mac, which is also unable to seperate the cells in the first instance, but, for some reason, can open and create cells in the PDF I created in Numbers. It’s a bit of a game each time but it has always worked in the end. One time I was having trouble with the columns, but after some tinkering, I was able to get them to seperate using PDF to Numbers+. Not a great converter, I haven’t found one of those yet, butit’s a godsend to me all the same, hence my four stars.

Very Useful - Works as Described

I found this app very useful but would have found it even more useful if it understood currencies. I used it to extract a table of transactions from a financial statement and the currency values were extracted as text. True enough I could write a Numbers macro to remove the dollar sign, strip blanks and then convert to the numeric value -- but the app could have done that all for me at the touch of a button. I think extracting tables including currency values is probably one of the most common use cases of this app, so I'll be looking forward to an upgrade that includes this feature -- PLEASE! The other thing potential buyers should be aware of is that I don't think it will work with an image PDF, such as a scan of document. According to the developer's website, it doesn't do OCR. The PDF document therefor has to be the type in which the text is encoded as digital characters, not bitmaps.
