A number of critical fixes that should make the Internet Dashboard more reliable.

5.1.4 changes
Fixed: Better detection of spurious ICMP packets, should improve reliability.
Improved: Local Network monitors now default to using the routing table to detect the correct network path. Traceroute is still used as a fallback in case the routing table lookup fails.
Fixed: Add SNMP wizard now doesn't prompt for an SNMPv1 community string if SNMPv3 is chosen.
Fixed: SNMP monitors that use non-standard ports.

5.1.3 changes
Improved: Added a 'Refresh Monitors' button to the bottom button panel. Pressing this will reload all monitors, without having to Restart PeakHour.
Improved: Connection Quality monitor error handling, including an ICMP sequence number rollover condition that meant monitors would stop working after a few days.
Improved: History window toolbar tidied up.
Fixed: Crashes.
Fixed: The 'Duplicate' menu item in Settings > Monitors works again.

Peakhour is great utility app

This new version looks great! The subscription price is reasonable. I am generally not a fan of subscriptions, but a reasonable price like this and if you can pick longer term generally makes it easier to accept. With that in mind would you consider a 2 year option for the subscription?

Also would you consider adding some testing options for SNMP before going through the setup (via snmpwalk or handful of gets to decide if you want to use those OIDs)?

Hi!

Thank you so much for your review and for appreciating the new look of PeakHour. We're happy to hear that you find our subscription price reasonable. Understanding that subscriptions can be a bit of a commitment. Your suggestion for a 2-year subscription option is definitely interesting, and we will consider it for our future updates.

Regarding the addition of SNMP testing options, we'd love to dig into this idea with you more. Would you mind reaching out to us directly at suggestions@peakhourapp.com so we can hear more of your idea?

Thanks again for your valuable feedback and for being a part of our community.

Nice update!

Handy tool to check on your bandwith usage to the internet and on local devices.

I've been using this app since version 3 and it continues to improve. The developers are responsive to support requests.

Subscriptions are a cancer

I won't be subscribing to this. When I saw the PH5 announcement I was excited to upgrade to PH5 with the expectation that the cost of the upgrade will compensate the developer for work well done on PH4 and likely continued through PH5. Peak Hour 4 was a lovely little app that did it's job without needing to charge a recurring fee. Now 5 will replace it, and 4 will certainly go away once its use as advertisement for 5 is expended.

I'm wiling to pay a reasonable price for a purchase but am unwilling to pay subscriptions fees for anything without an obvious recurring cost that can't be sufficienly offset with an upfront payment.

Developer Response ,

Hi there!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. It really means a lot! We totally get where you're coming from regarding the subscription model for Peak Hour 5. Hearing that you've been a fan of Peak Hour 4 and were excited for the new version really warms our hearts.

We made the shift to a subscription model to keep bringing you the best possible updates and support. It's a way for us to ensure Peak Hour stays on top of its game. But we completely understand that it might not be everyone's preference. Your desire for a one-off purchase is something we truly respect and will think about for future updates.

We're committed to maintaining the quality and simplicity that made Peak Hour 4 popular in our new version. Your experience and satisfaction with our app are our top priorities.

If there's anything else on your mind or any suggestions you have, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your input is super valuable and helps us grow!

Thanks so much for your support and for being such an important part of our community.

Warmest regards,
Ed
