“My daughter is 5 and the youngest of 3. She often gets frustrated that she can’t get a word in with her older siblings and sometimes loses her temper. We are trying techniques to help her take a step back before she does and she finds that using Peppy Pals is a great way for her to remove herself from the situation and think and stay in control!

Peppy Pals is a colorful and safe app filled with joy and playful learning for kids ages 2-6. The farm animals socialize, take care of each other and solve problems in a tranquil and calm setting. Play frisbee, have a picnic on the farm or visit a magical school through scenarios that your child can relate back to real life. There’s hours of play, quizzes, colorings, reading, puzzles and a whole lot of humor that keep the learning fun and interactive.

Kids can easily relate to the scenarios thanks to the different personalities that the animal friends exemplify. In Peppy Pals, it’s “different is cool” and all emotions are allowed. The 16 relatable stories are accompanied with questions to discuss and quizzes that spark meaningful conversations between kids and adults.

Go beyond ABC and 123 - enrich your child’s mind and heart for a lifetime!

Peppy Pals is supported by LEGO Ventures, Yale Center of Emotional Intelligence and the global EQ-network Six Seconds. Ideal for kids ages 2-8.

Peppy Pals can be played by children all over the world as there is no text or language used in the games. We use a range of different senses (hearing, sight and touch) to stimulate deeper learning, and offer a calm and relaxed way to explore EQ/SEL. This means that the app also works great for children with special needs such as Autism, ADHD, and Asperger’s (ASD) as well as refugee children.

Gabby the Rabbit: Kind, shy and sometimes sensitive. Gabby’s motto is: “Get out of your head and get into your heart. Think less, feel more”.

Helpful if the child knows how to read

The scenarios in this app would be helpful for children in grades 2-6 as the reading material may be tough for those who are just starting to learn English to understand. The play scenarios are short and simple, but the questions would be very difficult for kids in grades K or 1 to know what was even being asked. I know that I would be stumped by the stories in the first grade because I would not understand the language used in the stories and questions when it was spoken at that level. That is why I got so frustrated in Speech Therapy / Social Skills Playgroup after all.

This app would not have engaged me as a child because there is nothing to grab my attention at the beginning like a surprise. The other activities are 4-piece jigsaw puzzles of the scenarios, emotion matching (which would be helpful for any kids), letter tracing to spell the names of emotions, a drawing tool which is quite useful, and a pirate themed mini-game with no scoring.

Overall, although this app will probably not help those with autism learn social skills, it still does a good job of teaching kids about emotions and their impact on play. Those with autism will probably need more support and encouragement like characters talking to the child, teaching the child how to greet others and make friends, reassuring the child along the way.

Developer Response ,

Dear Peppy fan! Wow, this is such great feedback. We appreciate that you've taken your time to describe specific scenarios of when it would be helpful if additional support was available, as well as the appropriate language-level if kids were to read books, questions etc. on their own.

Since the age group we target with the games, emotion memory-games, puzzles etc. is geared towards the slightly younger kids (as you also mention), our intention with the books is for kids and parents to read together and connect through the questions to discuss. However, after your valuable feedback we do realize we might need to clarify this in a pop-up or similar so kids don't find themselves feeling frustrated over the language being too difficult/challenging.

Again, thank you so much for this! Overall it sounds as if you/your child have enjoyed playing with the app? :)

Would be 5 stars except for the waiting “game”

My 2 year old loves this game. But PLEASE get rid of the waiting game!!! WHAT is WITH the waiting “game” in between games where Reggie is chasing his tail on a screen with a white background and the other animals pop up! It’s boring, and literally goes on so long (sometimes 2-3 minutes) he loses interest and we switch to another game like Pinkfong. As a parent I understand teaching the delayed gratification aspect, but can you get to the actual game already!!!! These kids are 2 years old!

Thank you for sharing this! I'm sorry to hear the loading seems to be slow. It usually only takes 5-10 seconds to load games if you're on WiFi. We have taken note of this and will try and find what the problem might be.
