Description

Children do not learn to read by memorizing letter names. They learn by understanding the sounds that make up spoken words.

Traditional alphabet-based learning focuses on letter names, which do not correspond directly to the sounds of language. This can create confusion and slow the development of reading skills.

Phonemes are the 44 distinct sounds in English. They are the building blocks for reading and writing. When children learn to hear and identify these sounds, they build a strong foundation for decoding words and understanding text.

This app helps children ages 3 to 6 develop phonemic awareness. It guides them to:

- Recognize and differentiate all 44 phonemes
- Connect sounds to their written symbols
- Build basic vocabulary by matching images to spoken words

Phonemic awareness is the strongest predictor of future reading success. Mastering phonemes prepares children not only to read, but to write and spell with confidence.

Phonemes by Cactus Learning is the first step to reading mastery. It respects the way children naturally acquire language and supports lasting literacy skills.
