Phonics Make a Word supports both Phonics and Spelling. The application is for children just beginning to read. The words all have short vowel sounds. More advanced children should try Phonics Advanced, with long vowel sounds and double vowels.

Phonics Make A Word includes five different phonics short vowels groups. Each group has about 30 CVC words so there are about 150 words included in the game. The app support multiple user accounts and report cards. There are awards and bonus game to encourage child to play and learn.

Nicely done!

I have a couple of Abitalk's apps. Sentence Builder is another favorite. I like the options this app offers- for example, you can choose between uppercase or lowercase, you can choose for the letter name or phonics sound to be voiced when a letter is tapped, you can choose to use the spelling mode where the image disappears for a moment as the letters of a word is spoken out- I think this is really useful as it removes any distractions and focuses the child's attention on the word being spelled out. Another plus is how it allows for multiple users which is great for an education setting or multiple siblings. The images are easily understandable. This is good to use with children who have difficulty saying final sounds of words. There is one small problem that I will bring up to the developer that I just noticed- the ch in the word "chat" sounds a little too close to "sh" eek... ;) I am sure that will be resolved asap!

I love Abitalk apps. I'm sending this one to school for my son tomorrow. I do wish we could add more letter choices so it's not just a jumble, like having 5 letters available for a 3 letter word. Still, great app, as always.
