Awards & Reviews:
Based on the award-winning phonics reading curriculum from Veritas Press, the most awarded Classical Education curriculum provider over the last 20 years.

"Guess who just read her first book on your app?!!! Our four-year-old (not even four and a half yet) is reading! Thanks for making such an awesome app!!!"

"My four-year-old loves playing on the app and will beg me each day to let her do lessons on it. Through the fun and engaging atmosphere of the app, she quickly learned the letter sounds and started putting them together to form words. And we only used the app for a month before she read her first book on it! The app has made learning to read fun and enjoyable. We have loved it!"

Creative Madness Mama ,

I LOVE this Veritas Press app!

For the purposes of this review, we are using the iOS Phonics Museum App on an iPad 2. I have been a part of the beta team, review team upon updates, and we still use this app today more than a year later with two students (one for review and one for learning). I do have a full review on my blog with pictures and details for those interested. Search Creative Madness Mama Phonics Museum iOS App Review.

We started with the physical Phonics Museum materials, merged to using the app with the materials and now with my youngest we just use the app. However as his motor skills improve I do plan to have him go through the physical materials to review what he is mastering through the app.

I LOVE this Phonics Museum app. My only issue is that it is only available on the iOS platform. My children in general are much better moderated on a Kindle Fire in FreeTime mode and thus I hope and pray they will release an Android/Kindle Fire app.

Developer Response ,

thank you for the review!!!

We're hoping to be able to release a version for Android and other platforms later this year.

This did nothing but slow my daughter down.

Purchasing a subscription to this app was the biggest mistake I made this school year. Before beginning this app, my daughter already knew the sounds of all the letters. She was ready to begin phonograms and cvc words. The app will not let you skip past what you already know, so I thought we would just quickly work through what she had already mastered, but there is no quickly working through on this app. After hours and hours of work and even having her older brother help her try to advance on the app she was still learning the alphabet songs. In fact, even if we had completed the app she would have only covered a few digraphs by the end. I find it misleading that they advertise that your child could learn to read in just a few days when you can not skip ahead and there are hours and hours of silly video that the child has to watch. Worse than the waste of money was the waste of time that my daughter spent staring at the screen watching silly videos that taught her nothing and playing games that taught her nothing and were also very hard to play, because it was even difficult for me to hear the sounds that the game was asking her to identify. Also, they released part 1 of the app before part 2 was ready so it is not anywhere near a complete learn to read program.

Doesn’t work

I loved Phonics Museum years ago when my older daughter used it. The songs were great, the lessons were fun. We used the whole curriculum kit with the little museum where you create your own museum with the cardboard cutouts and artwork. That being said, it was a no brainer to go with Phonics Museum when my younger daughter entered kindergarten. I just want to know what happened. We purchased the app over the summer, had some problems logging in a few weeks later. Had to use technical support that got back to me, and said that my subscription would be extended due to the inconvenience once the bugs were fixed. Fair enough. I get it. Well, I ended up having to repurchase the app anyways once the bugs were fixed, but not only that, my daughter has only completed the third letter, and we are back to not being able to log in again. I reached out a week ago to resolve the issue, but nobody has returned my emails. I am so disappointed because I usually have only good things to say regarding veritas press. I’ve recommended this particular curriculum to I don’t know how many people. It is just disappointing when you pay twice, product still doesn’t work, and customer service drops off the map.
