This update introduces device comparison, a new tool to repair a stuck iCloud Photos sync: two devices signed into the same iCloud account find each other over the local network and compare their libraries in a step-by-step wizard, drilling down year by year, month by month and day by day until it is clear which photos and videos are missing where; both devices then place the missing items into the app's album so iCloud picks them up and carries them across. A second new view folds every year onto one calendar, so January holds all your Januaries and 24 December every Christmas Eve, with the usual drill-down from months to days to hours down to the pictures themselves. Starting out is simpler as well: a welcome screen explains why the app needs access to the photo library, the analysis then starts by itself, and the numbers of the last run are kept on disk so the year list appears right away while the library is counted again behind it. The buttons above the year list now adapt to the width of the window and fold into a "..." menu when the row gets too narrow.

After you confirm each step, the app empties its album and both devices place the items the other one is missing into it, so iCloud picks them up and carries them across - after a while both libraries should show the same counts. The wizard can be cancelled at any time and ends with a summary of how many items differed on each device.

This update only changes the name the app shows for itself.

This release adds Handoff support, so you can continue browsing on another device right where you left off, plus Siri and Shortcuts support for asking about your photo counts and statistics by voice or using them in automations. A new Photos-search integration lets Apple Intelligence open the app directly at the matching year, month, or day for a free-form request, and voice queries can now cover any custom "last N days" period. The new Siri and Shortcuts strings are now available in German, report headings and shortcut titles use the app's localized name, and German relative time phrases such as "im letzten Jahr" are recognized correctly. This update also fixes a blank app name that could appear in Siri and in the "Clean Album" menu item, and adds missing German, Spanish, and French translations for the photo-search feature.
