PhotoArtista - Oil 4+

If you're looking for a fast easy way to give a distinctive look to some of your photos, and the look that you want is a "oil painting" look, this is a great app for you. Mind you, all of JixiPix's software fall into the one trick pony category in that they all have a certain style in which they modify your photos and that's it (albeit a different style for each app). That's not to say that there isn't a ton of easily accessible user variation in what can be done in each app, but the variation is all confined within the parameters of whatever style that particular app is geared towards. Fortunately the makers of this software have maintained a similar interface across the board so it's easy to go from one app to the next. I've had several of their apps for around 9 months and while I don't use them on the majority of my photos, they're all definitely in the "Special FX" category not everyday enhancements, I have been extremely happy with the results when I have used them. I do have to say that to date I have had a little less success with getting a good image with this one, but I have gotten some good results too. I think that may be due more to the fact that the oil painting thing is a lot more dependant on having a particular type of photo for good results than any faults of the app.

this product produces some very interesting looking images from your photographs.
I would like to see the pixel shadows halo around images be reduced to zero and also see the stroke variations provide better patterns of stokes. I don’t see this changing the stokes very noticeably.

Apple took my money, but the app will NOT install. I have been trying for two days!! And it is impossible to get support from Apple. I have emailed PhotoArtista and have not received a reply. VERY disappointing. It is nearly impossible to contact Apple for a return. I am really getting over the shiny Apple. The Apple is spoiled at the core I am afraid.
