Description
FYI, we plan to submit v11.0 to App Review later today, Sun, Nov 10, 2024, as our "Veterans Day 2024 Edition" ...
● We suspect you-know-who never thought of their Apple Log transfer function as a Photo Capture solution, and certainly NOT as a High-Precision Timing Burst Photo Capture solution.
● But we certainly have.
● And, we've crated a solution & implementation that we believe could become a De Facto standard.
---
● Photosets captures with High-Precision Timing (HPT) & is very-likely (still) the ONLY Camera App on the planet to do so !
● Integrated Short-Form, 60-scene Video Maker !
● Light Years Ahead of ALL other Camera Apps in Burst Photo Technology & Application/Use-Case support !
---
● Max Capture STATs (w/o the IAP):
● 12 Mpx: 20 photos/set @ 30 fps
● 4K: 25 photos/set @ 30-60 fps
● 8 Mpx: 25 photos/set @ 30 fps
---
● Max Capture STATs (w/ the IAP):
● 12 Mpx: 30 photos/set @ 30 fps
● 4K: 30 photos/set @ 30-60 fps
● 8 Mpx: 30 photos/set @ 30 fps
---
● Please note that we added "ALog 10-bit 422 4K" capture support in v10.31.
● And, that we wrap'd support for it around a brand-new One-Time-Purchase IAP called "ALog 10-bit 422 4K Capture".
● At the core of the IAP is 10-bit 422 4K capture based-upon the Apple Log transfer function (w/ Rec.2020 color primaries).
● Apple offers support for Apple Log ONLY on its four newest "Pro" iPhones, and as such, Photosets does as well.
● By the rules, we MUST offer the IAP to everyone, NOT just those running Photosets on a 15P, 15PM, 16P, or 16PM.
● Our solution to that, so that everyone gets a benefit, was to include longer capture durations, up-to "30" photos per set (for everyone).
● That way everyone gets a BIG benefit !
---
● As a reminder, Photosets uses an Apple Camera Framework that does NOT generate sound during Burst Photo Capture.
---
Here is a summary of the Features & Capabilities of Photosets' ALog 10-bit 422 4K Capture IAP:
1.) Regarding 10-bit 422 4K Capture (on Apple's four newest "Pro" iPhones):
● Back Wide Camera ONLY (for now)
● 4K30 or 4K60
● VM OFF ONLY (i.e., NO Videos automatically crafted)
● sRGB, HLG, or Apple Log (NO image compression for either)
● .rgb3x file format
● Up to "30" photos/set
2.) Regarding 8-bit 8 Mpx, 4K, & 12 Mpx P3 D65 Capture (on ALL supported iPhones & iPads):
● Up to "30" photos/set
As a reminder, here it's either JPEG or HEIC.
---
● Important Disclaimer:
● v10.31 includes "capture" support for what we call "ALog 10-bit 422 Capture," but it does NOT include "post-capture" support (we're still working on that).
● Photo files are written to the rgb3x sub-folder in your Photosets folder, & include a .rgb3x file extension.
● The file format consists of a custom 4B header, followed by the per-Photo Metadata, followed by the Data Compressed, but NOT Image Compressed, Photo Data.
What’s New
Version 10.31
● Another BIGGIE !
● We've added "ALog 10-bit 422 4K" High-Precision Timing Burst Photo Capture support !
● The important thing to know is that Apple offers Apple Log capture support ONLY on its four newest "Pro" iPhones.
● And as such, Photosets does as well.
● And, importantly, we've wrap'd support for it in a brand-new One-Time-Purchase IAP, called "ALog 10-bit 422 4K Capture".
● By Apple rules, we MUST offer the IAP to everyone, NOT just those running Photosets on a 15P, 15PM, 16P, or 16PM.
● Our solution, we've boosted the capture durations for ALL.
● Up-to "30" photos per set !
● That way everyone gets a BIG benefit !
● And BTW, NO reason ALog 10-bit 422 4K Capture won't soon become a de facto industry standard.
● It represents the High-End for both Pro & Consumer (Burst) Photo Capture.
---
● As a reminder, Photosets uses an Apple Camera Framework that does NOT generate sound during Burst Photo Capture.

Ratings and Reviews
Terrible!
First of all, the app obligates us to give a review to open a secret feature! This is very annoying! Besides, the secret is sooo secret that I have not discovered it yet! Also, the usability is terrible and it's not intuitive! I've read about what it does, but I cannot do anything with it... Please, improve it!!
Developer Response ,
FYI to ALL, today, Sun, Oct 27, 2024, we are announcing that v11.0, out soon, supports the capture & collection of photos & photo sets for Machine Learning in a brand-new & innovative way ! ...
---
📌 FYI, a Heads Up on Photosets v11.0, out soon.
Up-to 255 Machine Learning (ML) Tag bytes per photo !
So, for v11.0, the rgb3x file format is as follows:
The 4B Hdr, followed by 0-255 ML Tag bytes, followed by the Metadata,
followed by the Photo Data.
As a reminder, the rgb3x format is a capture format.
Specifically, for 10-bit 422 4K high-precision timing burst photo capture up-to 60 fps.
When used with the Apple Log transfer function it's similar to Apple ProRAW.
One BIG difference, Apple ProRAW is good for ONLY 2-3 fps.
For clarity, Mange RGB3x support goes live with v11.0.
v10.31 does NOT include it.
v10.31 focused on "the capture" of rgb3x content.

📌 Hot Tip #1:
After installing Photosets, open the Settings app, Tap your name / iCloud / Manage Account Storage / Backups / (select) your iPhone OR iPad, Turn Off Photosets & Confirm.
That will prevent iOS (& Apple servers) from backing-up Photosets to your iCloud storage.
📌 Hot Tip #2:
Open the Settings app, Tap Camera / Formats, & read the description for ProRAW.
i.e., the description that starts with "ProRAW is a 10-bit file ...".
Next, tap ProRes Encoding, & read the description below the three options.
Make sure the Apple ProRes switch is set to ON.
The key part of the description is:
Log will appear flat and gray before processing adjustments are made.
Note that Apple uses Apple Log for video recording with ProRes encoding.
And that Photosets uses Apple Log for high-precision timing burst photo capture
with NO encoding during capture.
Very flexible, high quality
Lots of nice capabilities to change the speed of playback and create a motion video, several save options. Quaility of playback is excellent. I had an issue with "save" in an earlier version, and got two(!) emails from the developer to help me get it right.
Improved immensely the description
I had given it a low rating because their original description amounted to hyping their product without explaining what it did. They have fixed that.
