Ratings and Reviews
I received my PicBot yesterday. After trying it out I'm disappointed in the limitations of the app.
I had anticipated using the panning time lapse feature. Is there one? The lack of any instructions leaves one to fend for themselves. Even my PicBot lacked the promised user guide.
The face tracking worked well. So it may prove useful for taking selfies without the stinkin' stick. But the app lacks intuitive control.
Since this is version 1, I'm hoping a lot of refinements will come my way. Until then, 2 stars is generous.
Save your money. I received mine several weeks ago. I just now opened it up and realized what a ripoff the Picbot really is. Several issues. First, it looks like its used. Many scratches on the bottom where you can mount it to a tripod. Second, greasy finger prints all over it which makes me thinks that this was either used and sent back or the manufacture had lunch and didn’t wash their greasy hands. Third, no manual came with the product. Fourth, no user guide. Fifth, no charger or charging cord came with the unit.
After figuring out how to use it it is not smooth at all. It works nothing like their video shows. So, printed on the bottom of the box I just noticed the small print that says what is inside the box and it reads “Remote control, user guide, micro USB”. This Chinese piece of crap Picbot only came one of the the three items.
Do not waste your time and money even if they would give them to you free. Useless garbage.
The Kickstarter video shows "Kevin" taking sweeping time lapse panoramas with custom pre-sets for degree of rotation. This feature doesn't exist, as a previous reviewer wrote. The face tracking does work well and this is promising, but right now PicBot does not live up to its potential. If you're having trouble with the remote, make sure you have the tiny "On/Off" button set to On. User Guide should be uploaded to the internet. Let's get the sweeping time lapse feature working!!
