Worked great for me in my iPhone 3GS running ios 5.1.1 during Hurricane Sandy (October 2012) while in Massachusetts. You can turn the shopping alert options off (settings > deal notifications) which is what I have done. I have not noticed much power draining since installing this app. I have power use set to default (select settings- then scroll down). If you have a problem with the app use the feature within the app to report a problem or suggest a feature so they can help you directly.
Not Enough Important Stuff, Too Much Garbage
In 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic... I got a notice at around 3am about a dangerous heat wave in my area. About 8 hours later- a ‘missing child’ alert. From 2014 and hundreds of miles away.
I honestly don’t know what to tell these developers. In true emergencies I’ve gotten better notifications from the government. Like, loud constant warnings on my phone. And I’m totally confused about missing child alerts. I’ve been driving and seen Amber Alerts on road signs which are hours old, but with no phone notifications. The ones I do get are YEARS old
Get it together, guys, please
Intrusive when it doesn’t need to be
I'm a little leery of granting some unknown company access to my location 24/7 (allowing it only “While Using the App” permission defeats the whole purpose of the app).
While there is the option to program in additional locations, I cannot program in a particular city of interest and save it, unless I also allow the app to access my current location (Always or While Using the App), which I don't want to do.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
