Fast and easy customer service but needs more acceptance for those on Medicaid

I was a loyal patient of The Pill Club up until they filed for bankruptcy and closed operations. Being on Medicaid I was especially worried about access to birth control since I knew not every provider accepted my insurance. After trying and failing to get birth control with another company, Planned Parenthood Direct accepted my Medicaid plan (albiet they only accept it in very few states- I just happens to be lucky enough to live in one of those states). Within the same day I was approved to get a years worth of my prescription! It’s not the same brand that I would have preferred but it is of the same generic equivalent which is fine enough by me. I’ve never had birth control service this quickly. I’ve also never received my questions answered this quickly. It’s quite amazing. I wish I could recommend it to anyone on Medicaid but they only accept it in California, Washington, Minnesota, and Michigan according to their website. That’s the only reason this is 4 stars. Those of us on Medicaid are the most vulnerable. Please try your best to accept Medicaid in more states.

Fast, easy, and incredibly helpful!

I never write app reviews, but I had such a fantastic experience with the PP Direct app today that I figured leaving a review was the least I could do! I’m moving and therefore currently between doctors, and couldn’t figure out a way to get a birth control refill without having to go through the hassle of doing an intake appointment with a doctor I’ll probably never see again. A friend suggested PP, and when I went to their website, I read about the app. Figured it couldn’t possibly be that easy, but decided to give it a try... and I’m so glad I did!

Filled out the questions, snapped a photo of my driver’s license, requested the specific pill I’ve been on for years, and designated the pharmacy down the street from me as my pickup location. Within a few hours I had a notification saying the prescription had been approved and sent to the pharmacy; I was charged a total of $25 (for the doctor to review my case and write the prescription; the pills themselves were free, though I know this varies by state).

Way faster, easier, and more convenient than any doctors appointment, and I still felt confident that I was receiving quality medical care - the questionnaire was thorough enough to catch any contraindications for the prescription, and they offered lots of educational materials as well. Thank you Planned Parenthood for making my life a tiny bit easier during an otherwise stressful time!!

Great Experience, Fast, Easy and Great Staff

I had an in office check up at my local PP and my visit went amazing. The staff was so kind and knowledgeable. WAY more knowledgeable then any of my previous OBGYNs previously and they actually listened to my concerns I’ve been having for years and have given me viable options where I wasn’t getting help before.

Ive been hunting for a birth control option that works for me and was given a few options but that’s better than the zero options I was given before. I got all of the paperwork I needed to get me started on doing some research about which option I wanted to pursue and when I was ready I downloaded this app, and requested the specific one that was right for me. And within 24 hours I had a prescription and didn’t have to make a follow up in person appointment. It was a really nice convenience. My new birth control will arrive in a couple days. I got a 3 month supply to test and make sure I’m happy with it, then I’ll Plan to purchase for a year. I love that you have the option to pre order in bulk like that. I don’t have to worry about running to the pharmacy, comes right to my door.

Just want to say thank you for providing women with viable options to stay healthy and educated about our bodies. I have only positive things to say about all of my experiences with planned parenthood.

Worked Perfectly

I’m very impressed by the Planned Parenthood app. I’ve never used birth control before, and was intimidated by the prospect of having to deal with a doctor’s office and waiting periods, etc. to get a prescription. This app bypasses all of that. You can get birth control by answering a few questions. A clinician immediately started reviewing my answers, asked me a few follow up questions, and quickly matched me with the best birth control pill for me. More than a year’s worth of my pills were shipped to my house within a few days. The entire experience was so much more convenient than I had ever expected.

Those complaining that Planned Parenthood doesn’t cover their state or region should take that up with your state representatives. The politicians putting red tape on your reproductive organs are the reason you can’t get coverage, not Planned Parenthood. They aren’t denying you coverage out of spite, they’re limited by legal restrictions and medical coverage in your region. Time to talk to your regional political leaders, not leave bad reviews on an app for an organization that is trying to help you. In my experience, Planned Parenthood does excellent work when they are allowed to. But they have to be allowed to do so.

If available in your state, try it!

I’ve been a long time supporter of Planned Parenthood. I donate monthly and am vocal about my love for the services that are offered. However, using this app is actually the first time that I have personally used its services and now I feel even more passionate about supporting this amazing organization.

I’ve been on birth control that was prescribed by my primary care for about a year. The birth control has worked great for a large amount of my needs, however it is very expensive even after my insurance. Turns out my insurance covers little to no amount for “non necessary birth control”. Because of Planned Parenthood, I am able to pay the same amount for 6 months of birth control as I was paying for just one previously, all without the hassle of going to the pharmacy and dealing with appointments.

I was a bit nervous because being in Utah meant that I had to have a video chat with a physician after filling out the in app survey but the physician who helped me choose what was the best option was kind and made me feel very comfortable. If you are lucky enough to be in a state where these services are offered I say try it. And thank you all at Planned Parenthood for making these services available.

I almost never leave bad reviews because I know all too well what it’s like, but I’m sitting here flabbergasted.

I’ve been going through Nurx, who actually takes my insurance for my birth control. PP advertises to stop your period for $40 more than what I already pay, so I decided to sign up to see if I could switch and they could stop mine because I’ve had billing issues with Nurx in the past.

Before I could get any of my questions answered by the NP, though, she went right ahead and immediately filled a prescription while I was still typing a question. I quickly deleted what I was typing to try to request them to wait to let me ask my question upon seeing the “We filled the prescription, thanks for choosing Planned Parenthood!” message, but it was too late. I was not interested in the more invasive BC options that they suggested, so I was just going to go ahead and cancel my inquiry and account, but now I’m $75 out for nothing.

It’s unfortunate because I’ve always thought so highly of PP until today. I’ll still support their message, but this dented my belief in them. I don’t recommend this line of business.

**Update: Thankfully, I’ve been refunded. I don’t like how they quickly just take your money and don’t let you ask questions, but the refund was given fast. I say just be careful and make sure they know up front that you’re just inquiring before they start up a whole new prescription.

I highly recommend this app

Ive been getting my birth control from Planned Parenthood for about 3 years now and each time around November/December I have to go in for an appointment to renew my pills for a years worth I get really bad anxiety because I never know if ill be able to get someone to drive me since I’ve never gotten my license and because i dont have insurance and am now too old for the program they offer im also worried about the price of my prescription. When I found out about the app I was so happy and so relieved. I was able to order my prescription without having to visit the clinic and the clinician that helped me was incredibly nice and approached any questions they had for me in such a warming way. I received my pills in about a week and the price was surprisingly cheap as well. 3 months for $75? What a great deal! I will definitely be continuing my use of the app for as long as its up and running. Their security for user safety/privacy is also a big plus for those in less than desirable situations.

Highly recommend this app!

I had run out of refills of my birth control and needed a new prescription so I decided to give Planned Parenthood Direct a try and am glad I did!. Being on Medicaid, it can be hard to find a doctor to accept it but thankfully Planned Parenthood accepts Medicaid in my state. Some states require a telehealth visit but mine does not. All I did was answered a few questions, filled out my payment info and submitted my request. I had submitted mine around the Holidays so it took them a couple days to get back to me but the provider I had was very professional and prescribed the birth control I requested. I now have a whole years worth of refills thanks to Planned Parenthood Direct and I will continue to use them in the future when I need more refills. Also I did have issues getting the app to work when I was connected to wi-fi. However when I disconnected from wi-fi it ended up loading/working just fine. Unsure as of why this is though.

So simple and efficient!

I have been on birth control for almost 10 years and my GP recently went into private practice so I stopped seeing her regularly as the fee was very expensive even with insurance. My prescription ran out and instead of paying a hefty amount for a quick visit at her private practice just to have a prescription written, I was directed to this app and wow! What a pleasant experience. I filled out my info and preferred prescription and minutes later I received a response from a NP offering me prescription choices nearly identical to my usual pill (they didn’t carry my exact Rx). I felt so supported and appreciated that so much! I was able to choose a prescription and she filled it right away. Having it mailed to my house is absolutely amazing. No more trips to the pharmacy for me! This really helps with my busy work schedule and eliminates so much stress. Thank you! 💕

Fast, friendly, and easy to use!

My name is Jackie and I’m a mom of 2 boys. Due to covid-19 I have been unable to be seen with my OB/GYN and was needing a quick solution. In about 15mins I was able to use this app to fill in information, verify my identity, decide on a birth control method great I’m happy with, place an order and pay for it. About an hour later I was messaged by a doctor through the app addressing my questions about the BC I selected and received tracking information letting me know when I would get my order. Ordered on a Thursday afternoon and it’s supposed to be here Monday. Pretty awesome! Now for what I bought (6mos birth control pills) it is $150 which isn’t cheap but with my insurance, that’s about what the cost of the office visit would’ve been even with my birth control being free through my insurance. The smallest pack they mail is 3mos and it’s $75. But no random fees and it’s an easy to use app. Very satisfied!
