Plant Lists + Pictures brings a greater understanding of the plant world and is an excellent educational and lifestyle tool. Plant Lists + Pictures installs with the ability to create 3 new plant lists with unlimited pictures with no cost. You can explore the vast number of app features to see if Plant Lists + Picture is an app for you.

What’s different using your camera within Plant Lists + Pictures?

By using the device’s camera inside the app, the pictures you take are automatically labeled and cataloged with a plant list. You can also import pictures previously taken outside the app and add them to a plant list. Sometimes you just want to take pictures and deal with a plant list at a later time.

Pictures taken without a plant list are collected in an unassigned plant list where they are easy to review, label and add to a plant list.

Pictures from all plant lists are consolidated into a cumulative picture gallery, with larger preview pictures. Your pictures are not isolated from other apps. Pictures individually, or for an entire plant list, can be copied to your device’s picture gallery allowing you to use other apps and for backup.

What’s inside the app?

Plant Dictionary: The plant dictionary holds description and other detail information about plants. Plant lists and markers both refer to the plant dictionary. Because plant dictionary information is held in a central location, changes to the plant information, like adding a common name, are seen wherever the plant is used throughout the app.

When plant lists are shared, plant dictionary entries accompany the plant list. Sharing plant lists is a fast way to build up your plant dictionary. When plant names are referenced, links to Google Images and Wikipedia are displayed.

Location Markers: Markers contain GPS location and observation information. A marker can also be a land feature such as a trail head, parking lot or navigational waypoint. GPS information can be sent to Google or Apple maps for on-the-fly mapping.

Markers have a "Public" and a "Private" attribute. Setting this attribute to "Private" causes the location marker to be excluded from sharing and printing.

Plant lists: Plant lists bring plant information, location markers and pictures together. When displaying the list of plants, tapping marker icon at the top right of the screen switches to the list of markers. Tapping the flower icon returns to the list of plants. Taking a picture from within a plant list screen automatically labels and catalogs the picture in that plant list.

Other capabilities and research tools

Plant lists can be created on a computer and imported into Plant Lists + Pictures via a CSV file. Plant lists and location markers can also be exported from the app to a CSV file.

A specialized CSV import process is provided for users of SEINet. SEINet is a web-based plant database containing millions of plants from herbariums and public research projects. Using SEINet, you can build plant lists by location name or by drawing a polygon on a map.

Pretty sweet!

Have an picture inventory of my garden. Great app to record those hard to remember scientific names and associate with a picture.
