  • Success with an app.

I hadn’t had an inside plant in my life successfully. I even had a friend give me a cactus once and I successfully killed it. I’ve been told that’s hard but it was not hard for me. I really wanted a pretty plant in my house. Went to the nursery & took a chance. I bought a quite expensive, incredibly beautiful Flame Violet & brought it home. I put it on a shelf in the middle of my house& as usual within a couple weeks it was (like all the others I’d had) dying. Desperate because I’d invested more than a few bucks, also, desperately wanted to succeed, I loved her, she was so pretty. I went online looking for help. That’s when I found Plant Parent. I initially took a picture and the app diagnosed it. So easy, 3 photos & I learned my once beautiful plant (1) really needed to be watered from the bottom. (2) The Watering schedule depended on the time of year. Oh, I was humbled a bit because plant parent also told me she’d like to be in partial sunlight!!! Peeps, I just renewed my yearly subscription! Honestly, I now have 3 very successful inside plants that I love & love me (now) I’ve also just learned so much about what plants like and need. Remembering when to water/fertilize them is no longer an issue. I’d definitely recommend for anyone, especially people like myself who just can’t remember or keep track of but love plants & flowers in their home. Happy planting! Vicky

  • Successful plant mom

I have never had a green thumb in my entire life. I got a pup about 5 years ago from a plant of a client who is in her 80s that receive the mother plant almost 60 years ago for college graduation. It’s a snake plant….and I almost killed it over fertilizing it. I was able to propagate from one salvageable leaf, and after a week of trail with this app, I purchased a subscription and just renewed another year already. I’m now a plant mom because of this app. I have another succulent for the last 3 years now, and it has about 14 pups on it! I had an aloe pup of 4 little shoots and I’m now at 16….and that’s with it getting too much rain from storms a few times. I also have an elephant bush (that one has been easy to care for), and I’m on my 4th season with a Calla Lily (my favorite plant ever) who gave me 1 seed pod last year, but SEVEN pods this year! This app has given me a green thumb! The only thing I wish it allowed was for me to add the names of my plants in the app….because I’ve given them all names. I’ve referred several folks to this app…3 coworkers and 2 friends, plus a lady in the airport!

  • Needs more features and better AI

    LindseyVee79

Wish there were more features like exporting a list of all your plants and their care info (light/soil/water, etc). Their plant identifier is ok but vague. It will identify the species but not the exact variety. For instance it can’t distinguish between a neon pothos and an N’Joy so you just get Golden Pothos for literally any type of pothos you scan, and it’s like this for many of the plants. I wish there was a better gallery instead of the typical 1 photo for the plant, especially when you’re scanning a cutting and want to know what it will look like matured. I wish it would allow input for adding plants like cutting: Y/N, propagation water or soil, date added to library, track growth progress by asking for a photo of your plant the same way it reminds you to water and fertilize. And I’d also like if there was better assistance with soil recommendations and propagation instructions specific to the plant. A lot of the care info is about as generic as the little tag that comes with the plant. I dont know if other plant apps are better but I plan to research features of the competing plant apps and make a decision from there. Unless of course, developers take my review into consideration and try implementing some of the suggestions I’ve made. Now that- would give this app an absolute value if they end up having highly responsive skilled developers that are assertive and willing to make improvements!

  • So many bugs

I’ve been using premium for 8 months now. When I go in to click that I’ve watered something it doesn’t always accept it. The next day it’ll tell me I need to water that plant again. I’ve overwatered and killed my money tree because of this. Sometimes it’ll just keep the plant there and then I go to click back into it and then glitch out and be blank on the pull down screen. It also needs to combine watering with fertilizing when that’s what I pick for the option. What’s the point of giving me an option but then not combining it in the process? Identifying plants it’s good at identifying problems it needs a lot of work! My plant had thrips the app told me my plants were just dry from not being watered. The identifying pest part is terrible. You could literally see leaf mites on the leaf and the app just said my plant was stressed. Duh, obviously but it should be able to identify pests that you can clearly see. I had to go into a Google search for that. Basically I’m paying to remember to water my plants but then the app doesn’t even work for that because it’s overwatered and killed my plants. There needs to be a toggle for rain also. My deck plants got so much rain they didn’t need to be watered and the app doesn’t allow for you to put in your own dates or mark for multiple days of rain. Overall canceling my subscription unless it can be improved.

  • Absolutely Wonderful Resource

    GirlDr

I am delighted with this app. It has finally helped me to identify plants that I have had for more than a decade but never knew what they were called and thus never knew what they needed for optimal care. Furthermore, I very much appreciate the categorizing of care and ability of the app to keep my personal indoor and outdoor garden organized and updated re: watering and fertilizing. The health scan is a brilliant concept and appears to be correct ~ 85% of the time. I believe that much of the 15% off component is also largely contributed to the user’s photo ability, revealing the full plant and nothing but the plant, no background plant’s included in scan photo, close enough, clear enough, etc…, etc…The health care suggestions are spot on. And all the information is quite helpful. Even if you already know it, the material keeps you more vigilant and gives the user confidence. Ultimately, other than being such a hardworking tool with lots of capability, the app is totally fun to use. Most highly recommend!!

  • My experience with this app.

    Barbblessed

I did start the seven day free trial. I have used this before, but I do not think it was AI before and I’ve tried a non-AI ones and their ignorant and they tell me the wrong things I start testing all of them by asking them questions about plants I already know what they are and when they get those wrong, I’m done with them. This one actually with the AI component has told me true names of plants. My problem is I was within the seven day trial. And you guys made me purchase either one or the many year options. I think I’m in my third max fourth day but I think it’s my third in the trial yet you made me purchase anyway that’s the problem I have with these apps because there’s no phone number to call and I’m glad I can even get anything out information wise to the company because other than that, I am not liking the fact that I wasn’t given the full seven days.So I paid the 4999 for multiple years, which if they keep their word, this will be a good deal.

  • Love The App Except….

    Rays Magic Girl

So I have had this app for over a year and a half. For the most part it’s very good. Especially for identifying plants and plant problems. I like that I am reminded when to water and fertilize my indoor plants especially when I get a new plant that I am unfamiliar with caring for. Like my orchids. The only thing that really bugs me is that I live in zone 4, in Minnesota. Where we have snowy frozen winters. And while the apps AI is good at alerting me for summer rains and not to overwater the outdoor plants and trees. It continues to remind me to water and fertilize them all winter long! That’s quite impossible with 5 feet of snow in the yard! I have tried using the settings to stop this nonsense, but the only option is to suspend it until the next watering schedule! So maybe you could add a seasonal setting to the app? Otherwise I like the app a lot. When I have questions about care, I actually have the option of talking with a real person!!!! What??? That’s awesome 👏! Yay!

  • Nice App for Identifying

    OldScchool Gardener

Pros. I like this app for identifying. It’s great in the box stores for more info on a plant you’re thinking of buying. It’ll also let you know if it’sickly. I had a storm blow all my plants and tags around for my vegetable garden. I was able to identify a squash from a cucumber or a watermelon etc. Cons. It’d be nice if it would tell you if a plant Is considered a WEED in your area. There is no option for “in ground” in the settings of your plants living space. It wants me to water my Living Stone every two weeks. This is a huge no no! They are very picky and are only watered at specific times which a photo would tell you when it was ready for water. Needs more options like backyard vegetable garden, backyard fence line, backyard patio. Etc. All in all, i think I should have saved my money and just stick with the free version. Hopefully updates will benefit this App and make it more useful. PS….. The ads I saw showed using strange ideas to perk up your plants. Like using honey or soda etc. I haven’t seen any of that on the actual app.

  • The best plant care app out there!

    justanaxolotl >:3

Okay, newly crowned ‘Succulent plant girl’ here, and this app is AMAZING. Like, hands down, THE BEST. And this is not an easy rank to get in my reviews! My review schedule is once every week, and I LOVE schedules. Yeah, I BROKE my schedule to write a review about this app. THAT’S how good it is. Also, I RARELY EVER use caps strongly in reviews, but look at me! Doin’ it! Okay, enough about me and my weird review habits. This app, *clears throat, puts on tiny spectacles, looks at list* identifies plants, tells you A BAJILLION facts about them, sends you REMINDERS about when to repot, water, and EVERYTHING ELSE, LITERALLY IDENTIFIES YOUR PLANT’S SICKNESS, TREATS THE SICKNESS, Gives you a FREAKING CALENDAR FOR WHEN YOU HAVE TO DO TASKS, AND- I guess that’s pretty much it! This app has the same engaging format of Duolingo, and gives you excitement and encouragement! This app is AMAZING, and especially useful to respark plant interest into long-time plant owners! (Not that I’d know) but, this app is AMAZING, and I highly suggest downloading!

  • Mostly Great with One Concern

    wisenanny

One of the issues that I was most excited about with this app was getting unique feedback on fertilizing, repotting, and other helps for my indoor plants. Almost everything that I have read about creating organic fertilizing tools is related to outdoor use, not indoor use. All of the plants on this list – and it is by no means complete yet – are plants that are growing in my tutoring room. All of my elementary students have at least one plant that they have named, so we have a great collection of greenery – from Norfork Pines to a massive aloe vera to a beautiful orchid, hearty Chinese money plant, two colorful cacti, multiple variant peperomia, and three very large candy striped dracaenas. We even have one bonsai. So, having instructional help regarding individual plants rather than creating some big coffee box or outside compost would be truly more helpful to my students and me.Side Note: What would also be great is instructions on “starts” – how to pinch off/cut off sections of a very large plant to grow new generations.
