App needs work
The light is the best on the market. However the app could be better.
1) The timer should still work in the background
2) There should be a log feature so you can log and describe your sessions
3) You should be able to select your device and the red/near IR or both
Great Light, Poor App.
OK... as far as the light itself goes: great light. The light itself gets 5 stars. It’s built well, is powerful while being cost effective on a $/watt basis. However...Dosage is an important aspect of light therapy to consider. There are many variables to deal with. The app, which attempts to address the issue is virtually useless. It’s just a timer, but it doesn’t even do this right in that it fails to work in the background! Here’s what I’d like in an improved Platinum app: the ability to choose your particular light (model, red/NiR/mix) with accurate and honest wattage numbers at 6”, 8”, 12”, 16”, 24” for each possibility (red only, NiR and mixed). And then the ability to choose the target tissue: skin, muscle tissue ( deep: ie glutes, superficial: forearm...), body area and goals: fat loss, pre or post or post workout etc. with suggestions for red, NiR or mixed...This could easily be formatted in a table. Just choose your parameters from the table and then it brings you to a TIMER that’s works IN THE BACKGROUND!!! Is this so hard? Platinum makes a great light but is missing a real opportunity to empower their customers with the ability to achieve great results with their light. Too little or too much light can limit results!! Remove the ambiguity of dosage, help your customers achieve better results... and you’ll sell more lights! Simple!
This is a pretty worthless app. The way it was promoted, I thought it would give me actual dosing times for the red light. Nope. It has a slide bar timer that goes from 10 to 20 minutes. It tells you a range for the distance if you want to do “superficial” or “deep tissue” therapy. It doesn’t give you any guidance at all for any particular conditions or parts of the body. Maybe they’d get into trouble with the FDA if they did that, but still. It’s not even as helpful as the ipphone’s built in timer/stopwatch.
