Dear Audiomodern developers, my review is more about expressing or spreading my discontent with you. I just realized that this time, my criticism and disappointment aren't going to the App Store. I wanted to buy PlayBeat 3, and strangely enough, it was only compatible with a higher version of iOS than the one I have, so I couldn't get used to it. And now you're releasing the same app, PlayBeat 4, which is superior to the previous version and is compatible with my device. You're definitely being very mean and shameless. As a consumer, I'm speaking out against these outrageous marketing strategies. I don't see the difference between charging a direct price for purchase and offering it for free, installing it, and then having to pay to unlock its most important and functional parts. And thank goodness you don't have that other absurd subscription strategy, which is a real rip-off. I don't understand why there are people who pay monthly or yearly for something they already bought. In conclusion, I've realized that you, as developers, program apps to work on your chosen versions of iOS. You've already demonstrated this with this bad trick: PlayBeat 3 iOS v. 13 or higher, and now PlayBeat 4, compatible with iOS lower than v. 13, free, with a fee for general unlocking. Your apps are great, but your marketing strategies leave much to be desired. I want you to understand my dissatisfaction as a consumer.

Making the app available as a free download with all its content essentially serves as a trial version, allowing users to test it on their setup before deciding to purchase.

As for supported iPadOS versions, this depends entirely on technical limitations we encounter during development. For this version, we were able to support more OS versions and a few older devices. There’s no marketing strategy behind this decision, it simply wouldn’t make sense.

Other than a little better included samples and more color in the interface... It doesn't seem that much better than 3 to me. Their "A.I." doesn't seem all that much different than the randomization 3 already has.

Compared Playbeat 4 to the Playbeat 3 app I’d originally purchased, and eventually lost interest in. Playbeat 4 is not for me and actually deleted both apps now. Playbeat 4 seems kinda unstable too.

Possibly revisit after a few more updates to see if they’ve improved anything.

Pass for now.

Update: no, I’ve enjoyed some of the devs apps. I have all of them except for freezer. I’ve only given honest bad reviews of 2 of their apps. The dev chose to insult and falsely accuse me of malice, instead of trying to improve their apps that miss the mark IMO. Shame on them! Now 1-star. Not recommended

Honest Review

Pass

Left an honest, but negative review on this app on iPadOS and stated that I didn’t care for it… that I wasn’t (for me) enough different from their Playbeat 3 app.

The developer accused me of leaving a “false review” of their apps. I only left a negative review of Playbeat 4 and Sound Machine. I like some of their other apps. Both of these other apps take up way too much space and ultimately not for me.

I also said that I’d eventually check them out again after a few updates.

I take great offense that the developer AudioModern chose to make insulting accusations on an otherwise faithful user, instead of addressing the criticism like an adult.

I hope this developer realizes their error in judgement, and chooses to apologize to the offensive reply.
