it's not clear how to edit the rest of the ID3 tags, such as copyright information. For that, I have to go back to Fission. For $20, I expected a single-stop app that let me enter ALL podcast meta data. Instead, the chapters part is good but it's difficult to set the exact time on the scrubber. And the inability to set presets for ID3 tags (all the relevant ones) makes it kind of feel a little half finished.
The chapter-adding functionality is reliable and very helpful. Being able to play back in-app and see where your chapters begin and end is great. However, the app also offers the ability to add episode and chapter-specific images, and I've had zero success getting those to actually show up in supporting podcast players (Overcast and Castro, for example). I emailed the developer months ago asking about this, but never heard back. This app wasn't exactly cheap, either, so to have persistently broken functionality is inexcusable. I would recommend the free Forecast from Marco Arment instead. It's a little more fiddly when entering chapter starts, and you can't listen in-app to check your timing, but it has a lot of great built-ins to save time, and the pictures actually work.
I have a daily podcast with chapters which I simply could not do without this app.The ease with which I can add not only chapters, but chapter art and chapter URLs is great. Not only that, but Fredrik is a very responsive developer. I have had both feature requests and bug reports added or fixed in a day or two.The recent addition of CSV support makes adding chapters even easier. A steady stream of automation-friendly features have been added, including keyboard shortcuts. This is a professional application that, in the great tradition of great software, does what it does, and does it very well.I cannot think of any other app that I have purchased recently that I think of more highly than Podcast Chapters.
I purchased this app and tried it out, and it worked a couple of times, but now it is not working at all for me. I get the same error that Sugarattack is reporting below: "An Error Occurred. The export wasn't successful. If you keep getting this, you may need to re-master your file from your audio program”. I really would like to use this tool to add chapter markers to my mp3s but it is not working at all. Thomas Pritchard, please help!Once you get it working, I have a question/suggestion: Is the “Summary” field the same as the podcast Description in terms of meta data? I need to be able to edit the Description of the podcast files (not the Comments).
We've been using this app for years! It's been consistently reliable for its purpose—and even has a feature where you can save presets with your podcast cover art and basic information. A great app that simply does what it says! We need more apps like this on the App store!
I was trying out Headroom on a free trial and it totally borked the artwork and chapters for certain podcast players (not a great interface either). In a hurry to fix it, I gambled $20 on Podcast Chapters and man it did exactly what I needed it to. Solid, easy to use interface. So, far, so good!
It's so easy to add metadata (chapters and other stuff like the artwork and titles) to episodes, straight out of Logic! It's worth the money!
Very buggy, works one time then not the next. Can’t type chapter titles or adjust time stamps without the time stamps changing on their own or reseting. Inputs won’t take. FRUSTRATING!!!!
I have about a 50% success rate on using this app to export my podcasts. It’s especially frustrating because the error message isn’t very useful. An Error OccuredThe export wasn’t successful. If you keep getting this, you may need to re-master your file from your audio program. When it has worked in the past, it works well,. But since it only works like half the time, i have to give it half the stars.
I’ve been using Podcast Chapters for while and have always wanted the ability to add my ID3 tags in app, and now I can. Also, the addition of per chapter artwork is a feature I’ve been waiting for. If you have a podcast and are looking for an app to implement chapters with, Podcast Chapters will definatly be the app for you! And as a creator of 3 podcasts, the templates feature will be a definate improvment to my workflow. $20 is really worth what you’ll get out of this app.
Have been using this app for a while as part of my podcast publishing workflow, but always hated having to go through iTunes or another app to edit the metadata. So, the new update which adds support for editing title/description/show art etc… is extremely welcome and save me a few minutes every time I need to publish an episode. Great work! Now my only request is for better drag and drop support for starting and edit and cover art.
Thus far, I’ve attempted working with a few shows. But it seems broken. It’s not adding cover art at all, as far as I can tell, and the app isn’t making sound when I play back to figure out where to put chapters. On top of this, there is zero help. So I don’t know… am I supposed to give it a MP3 file? A WAV file? Should I add cover art to chapters or no? Not even a FAQ. Frustrating.
