Through Bluetooth connection, Populele’s smart fretboard lights up to show exactly where your fingers go. Using hardware and software integration, Populele brings technology and music together to make a truly unique and quick learning experience for beginners and advanced players alike. From in-app video tutorials to chord and song libraries and gaming modes to recording and sharing, this is the most integrated music experience on the market.

Great tutorials

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the content isn’t available when offline.

So I bought this a few months ago and when I’m able to connect to the internet it’s great. I’m made a lot of progression in a short about of time. And it’s really fun. Definitely recommend.

Great in concept, execution falls a bit short

This is a great idea. I think it should be mentioned up front that you don’t NEED the uke turned on for play, it’s merely the lights. In addition, there are so many bugs with the available songs. I really want to learn Let It Be, but that and several more just wont work. Also, this markets that you can learn over 100 songs. I counted, there’s 83, and if some of them don’t work anyway there’s far less. I would hope the company would pump out more fixes. I understand if you’re a small shop, but there’s an expectation of a product being up to snuff if someone spent ~$200 on it.

Wanted to be impressed but disappointed

I've been wanting to learn how to play the ukulele for a long time, so when I saw this on Shark Tank I was very excited and contributed to fundraising campaign. I won't review the ukulele itself - this review is for the app only. The navigation through is relatively intuitive although there have been a few things that were not. The biggest issue with UI is onscreen instructions not matching the displayed text (e.g. Early on in strumming lesson). However the more frustrating part is the app for not picking up strumming, counting things as missed when they weren't, and just as bad, counting things as correct when it most definitely is not. And, yes, my uke was tuned immediately before playing the game and my iPad was positioned directly in front of me. I also used my higher end uke (also in tune) to see what results I would get there. Although a beginner, there are certain chords that I actually can hit (it doesn't get much easier than C and F) yet the app frequently marked them is missed. Out of curiosity I just started streaming with the beat and not even attempting to use the chords, and it counted as a large percentage of those is correct.
