Since time immemorial, Potawatomi have come together to build community through traditional games such as zhoshke’nayabo (snow snake), gwzege’wen (bowl and dice), and mamkeznéwen (moccasin). In an effort to bring these social games into the public arena, we've built digital versions of each.

In zhoshke’nayabo, you play as one of two characters, choose between multiple colorful "snakes", and compete to throw the furthest.

In gwzege’wen, you compete against the CPU to get the highest score by throwing a number of tokens and totems in a bowl. It seems like a game of chance at first, but a skilled player can get their totem to stand on its edge, winning the game in one throw.

Mamkeznéwen is a lot like the modern shell game, only you aren't following a ball in a cup. Your opponent hides a small ball under a moccasin, and it's your job to determine which moccasin it is hidden under. Remember to keep an eye on your opponent! They might accidentally give something away.

So fun!

These games are so fun and easy, and I love that I can play with a friend as well! Migwetch!

Fun games

The games are fun, I think they need to be also a little bit more challenging and also I would like to create a village or a home inside of a game and learn more Native American words more about my heritage through a game although I did learn about the games that native Americans/ancestors probably played. It was really all that challenging and it could’ve been better.

Needs bug fixes - but I love this app

I’m Indigenous (Navajo) and was looking for Native games to play. I love this game and stumbled upon it. It needs some more bug fixes.

1. 2-player mode is not working effectively for the snake spear game. If player 2 tries to slide the spear, it does not work. The camera slides upward and the spear counter in meters increases into the 3000s and seems to be almost infinite, wherever the spear has gone.

2. Player 2 can’t select a spear for the snake spear game.
