Traditional ping tests can distinguish true gold or silver coins from counterfeit ones. But you need good ears. Precious coin tester helps you listen to the sound generated by the ping test and will tell you whether the coin is authentic or fake*. So no more worry about the fake gold or silver coin!

- How to ping the coin?
Hold the coin on the tip of one finger near the mic of your phone/tablet, and knock the coin rapidely with another hard object. Hold still the coin while it rings. When the sound of coin has diminished, knock it again.

Has been accurate for me so far

I have tested 1 gold & several silver coins and also US 90% coins and it seems to be very accurate. Need to look up many of the coin weights for size, weight & purity myself since the database is mostly just US coins, but can’t complain since it’s free!

Perfect for Silver Eagles and Other Items

Perfect for my needs: Mostly I test American Silver Eagles and other types of bullion coins. Certain countries have gotten very good at making fakes, and this tool is very good at avoiding them.

Plus, it’s clever and fairly innovative, traits to be applauded. Thank you, Mr. Developer, for your ongoing efforts.
