I created a motorcycle policy around 2 AM and woke up 9 hours later and I went out riding for the first time since I pulled the engine out and replaced the timing chain and head gasket, the motorcycle had a bad water pump and I knew it was going out, but I didn’t realize I had completely stopped circulating my coolant, my temp gauge was reading fine. My coolant level was good and my oil level was good. But sitting at a steady 175° my bike began losing power then stalled out, I pulled the oil cap and instantly it was smoking out of it, and after I let it cool it had a noticeable rod knock, but did start. To add to this stressful situation I had paid for an entire year of insurance that morning, and the last thing I wanted to do was lose out on all that money and need to pull out the engine again on top of it. I called progressive and with a less than one minute wait time, a nice lady picked up the phone and I told her about the situation and she gave me a full refund without a single fee, I was expecting it to be difficult and to have cancellation fees, or that it wasn’t gonna be possible, but it took me less than five minutes to get on the app, get the number, and have it canceled, and that brought light to my super stressful situation. As soon as I get my bike back up and running, I will be creating another year policy with them because of this great experience. Thank you Progressive!
Throughout my experience with various insurance companies, I have been a dedicated AAA member for many years. However, I must say that Progressive stands out as a true leader in the industry. One of the most impressive aspects of Progressive is their exceptional customer service. Whenever I've needed assistance, I’ve found that my calls are answered promptly, eliminating any frustrating hold times. Moreover, the representatives speak clearly and are easily understandable, making the experience pleasant and efficient. What truly sets Progressive apart for me is their user-friendly mobile app. The interface is intuitive, allowing me to navigate effortlessly through my options. I appreciate the ability to customize my insurance policy to fit my specific needs—whether it’s adding or removing coverage. This level of flexibility means I only pay for the coverage I genuinely want.Making the transition to Progressive has not only enhanced my insurance experience but has also resulted in significant financial savings—over $436 a year, to be precise! I can wholeheartedly endorse Progressive as a standout choice in the insurance market. They truly go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Thank you, Progressive, for providing such outstanding service!
I feel that two step verification is a pain and is outdated. Both your email and phone number can be leaked and compromised. The app doesn't even give you the option to opt out or to change methods without calling them speaking to one person then being change to another person. Who going to steal your car insurance??? I feel like it a pain for those who have a hard time with keeping their phones in service. But in order to change the method you got to call progressive doesn't give you the option in app or on the website. If you can afford your internet. You can't access your email without having internet or WiFi. Please find a way to make it more then just email or cell phone as both method can be hacked. Offer the ability to opt out. Because it a nuisance to have to verify on the same device everytime I login to the app. Even with password and Face ID I still need to verify. I haven't upgraded the phone in about 10 yrs. Yet daily I am needing to verify my identity. Why not work out the kinks before putting the two step verification out. This is healthcare or your credit card. It car insurance. The app is great but having to two step verification every single time I open the app is a pain please do something about it. Really need to have an option for trusted devices. Makes having snapshot a pain.
I’m not sure what more one could ask for! The app affords me the access I need to look into my policies; the UI is straightforward, with Auto and Marine separates into two separate tabs (and I’d guess other forms would also be handled as such— like Home, etc.). Electronic ID cards (as well as printer-friendly ones) are accessible with merely a thumbprint unlock and one click. Everything is literally right there and easy to navigate.• the one difficulty I’ve experienced has been in cases where I needed to change my policy (e.g., sold a vehicle and needed to remove coverage while also considering a slight change in coverage/deductible as well). In that case, as well as the last time I purchased a new vehicle, I was not able to follow through with the necessary processes 100% to completion via the app alone. Ultimately, logging in via web browser and eventually speaking with someone over the phone was a necessity. Granted, there are many loopholes for fraud when dealing with the aforementioned changes in policy, so I’m understanding on that. Thus far, now four years with Progressive, they’ve turned out to be rather impressive overall!
Advice and warning of the ways they purposely over charge hoping you won’t figure it out or will give up. This is not advice on how to get better insurance rates it’s a bout sone omitted ways they have taken money from me and now wasting so much time to get my money back that never should have been charged to me. Watch your premium, things that effect your premium like miles you drive in a year, (watch to make sure they don’t change them to to collect more money from you. Also, that discount amounts are not decreased or taken away snd be sure to keep note of all the information you give them in your first call when being quoted. Sign up for paperless to tv get discount but print and date every document sent to you and look over the $ amounts. Also, record all phone conversations and make sure the Progressive rep knows you are recording them. You want legal evidence when you need to prove their reps boldly lied, hung up on you, try to talk around your question as if they are trying to lure you away from your inquire (because they are) and they don’t disclose all information over the phone (nor in their printed documents and they are not consistent as if to makes you give up on trying to show how they are over charging you so you will need the recordings. This review should be written with bullet points . It’s more of a how to help yourself when Progressive is purposefully over charging you. I hope help someone it’s late and my writing is not to good. Good luck!
Progressive is the cheapest to start, but it continues to change. Our initial rate was $100 a month cheaper and the it randomly went up for no reason between the second and third payments with no explanation. Then we enrolled four vehicles in snap shot for 6 months 3 vehicles said we were on track for savings. One vehicle had a bad first couple months with a lot of hard brakes and a couple of late driving and it said a rate change was likely, but then it had minimal events for the next four months. Our savings on one vehicle was $109 per month, the other was $10 per month, the other said it did not make a change, but the one that said an increase was likely raise our rate $244 per month!!!! So that was a net increase of $135 per month. Snap shot is a joke. Firstly it ranks you by hard stops and fast accelerations , but sometimes those are necessary to avoid collisions and stopping before going through a red light or something. It’s not an accurate measurement of a person’s driving skills. Secondly if there are bad months it does not take into account the other good months. And lastly the penalty for two bad months in one car is significantly greater than three really good cars for all 6 months. My recommendation is tell them to eat their snap shot, because in the end they will get their money back one way or another. It is the biggest bait and switch on the market. My rate is back to the same as it was after all these promises of savings.
I thought I was dealing with a company worthy of its advertising, but I was wrong I have never been late on my monthly payments and I pay $403/month. Unfortunately my car was hit by the gate I contacted progressive for the repair, everything started well with the claim and it was approved. I carefully searched the web for a trustworthy body shop because my car was new it happened just after a month since I bought it, I finally found a shop and last Monday I took the car, the fender deserves to be replaced and that's what I want too. progressive sent someone to do the inspection Tuesday and the inspector sent me the estimate the same day. I who believed the repair would start the next day I was wrong! The inspector called me back to tell me that they found another shop that can repair the fender, it will cost them a few hundred dollars less, I refuse to take my car anywhere, they don't care about their customers, whether you are satisfied with the work or not is none of their business, they only want to spend as little as possible, even if you pay them for it. I pay the price that progressive imposes on me without complaining and when it is their turn to repair my car, they put pressure on me to take my car to another affiliated shop, plus after that they will increase the monthly price of my policy. 8 days later the car remains abandoned at the shop, they have not allowed the shop to start the repair.
The “Snapshot” application of this service is frustrating. You get flagged for phone usage while driving if you merely looked at your phone within a minute or two of driving. So, that quick text to your spouse to tell them you are on your way BEFORE you start driving gets counted against you. I live in an area where I can drive to work and not have a single stop light. I see more deer and wild turkeys than other cars. According to “Snapshot” if I happen to break a little harder to miss a turkey that just ran in front of my car, I now must be tailgating someone and get flagged on my driving record. So perhaps I should just hit the darn turkey? Now there is an email notification that I must check my “Snapshot” app to ensure the service is still on (never turned it off) or they’ll remove the service and charge more. A few weeks ago the app stopped showing me my trips so I can make appropriate adjustments of being a passenger, etc. I figured this must have been a period of active tracking and then it stops for a while. Now the app won’t even open and it seems I’ll need to go through the trouble of uninstalling it and reinstalling and setting it up again just so I can continue the frustration of an app with limited option for real-world situations. I’m not enjoying this experience. Perhaps another insurance provider is in my future.
I have felt that I never needed this app. I have only used it to link my device with confirming web pages for insurance coverage or charges. I have been paying $3.00 extra to be mailed hardcopy binder or coverage packets from the company, since inception of the purchase of the insurance coverage. I had suspicions about the app right away; I had no choice about installing the app: a customer service personnel, was assigned to the task, of holding my hand and walking me through the steps to completely install this app, while; we were on the phone call and I was on the Wi-Fi. Subsequently, I have noticed that this app has supplanted the other Progressive apps...Hmmn. I'm certain that this app has been used to verify my identity, if not; out-right spy on me. My insurance premiums have increased about 12% annually. I've been reassuring myself, that the industry has raised rates overall to the same proportion, and that these increases have been; unavoidable. I'm thinking to uninstall this app shortly after leaving this review and see if progressive complains or even notices. I believe that this is one of two apps, that I currently have installed, that cannot be prevented from running in the background and therefore; they are continuously draining the iPhone battery, even when the phone is 'off', the other company's app is more useful to me; one step at a time.
This app may be acceptable (three stars??) for paying a bill or working with policy information, but it is generally useless when using the Progressive “Snapshot” app element. The app deserves no stars because of it’s poor Snapshot functions. Sometimes the app thinks (properly) that I am a Snapshot user, other times I get a prompt asking “Set Up Snapshot.” Duh!And Snapshot often considers me to be driving when actually riding a CTA (Chicago) train. The app offers a four-day window where a user can change the trip designation, but unless the app is checked frequently, being assigned as “driver” stays. A recent round-trip by train was recorded as my driving, with heavy cell-phone use (I was using the phone…but not driving). It was beyond the four-day window when I noticed that incorrect designation, but a phone call to support did correct the problem. But the cell phone usage seems to remain and is affecting my account. While ALL actual driving trips have five stars, my “Overall” status shows only four stars…incorrect because of a poor driving report (cell phone usage) vs a public transportation designation. That is totally unacceptable. Good driving definitely can offer discounted policy premiums, but this app is totally useless in properly monitoring and recording driving. And (when) it mis-identifies a ride (a frequent occurrence) driving performance will be adversely affected. So what’s the point?
