This app is about one thing only, making more money for the already rich Property Brothers. It is not a game about design - as the design options are few. You are required to play through several layers of unrelated games to earn cash or tickets. Completing a level is difficult at best. It takes 3-6 explosions just to clear 1 wooden box and there are many along with other obstacles that must be removed. Bottom line is that you’ll spend hours trying to complete a level to earn a fourth or third of what you need to purchase the opportunity to design one piece of the room - spending as much as $2000 for a plant! The reality is that they want you to buy extra lives and the explosives to complete the level. It’s funny - after spending hours or days trying to beat a level, all of a sudden the game gives you numerous bombs and you’re able to complete the level without any problem whatsoever. How is that possible? It’s by design, to keep you hooked.
If you’re looking for a design game or app - this is not what you’re looking for. This is nothing but an attempt at a money grab! I thought better of the brothers. Guess I was wrong. Now I know some will say the brothers aren’t developing the game, but they are allowing their name to be used and I’m sure they have some say. What could have been an awesome design game is just another bubble busting game. My bubble was busted for sure.
I started playing this game with my 6 year old grandson and soon realized the matching elements were to difficult for him. This is a child who plays ps4 and Xbox video games without an issue. He loves the design aspect but can’t play the matching games at all, which leaves me to have to complete those levels. As for myself, I as many others have expressed was looking for a design game. If I wanted a matching game I would stick with the numerous amounts of matching games out there. I realized early on this was about the piggy bank and making money to buy those pink gems. I too am disappointed that the property brothers have their name on this. I watch them on a regular basis and never thought of them in this aspect. As you get up into the higher levels the matching is near impossible and frustrating. My other big disappointment in this game is that you can’t play it across different platforms. I on a regular basis go between 2 iOS devices. I would like to be able to share the process between the 2. I have it downloaded on both devices but am playing two different versions. The one on my iPad doesn’t offer the ads to make extra moves or lives while my phone does. If it wasn’t for my grandson I would have deleted this game days ago.
Fun game, some critiques
This game is a lot of fun, and I spend a large chunk of time playing it each day. I don’t mind the mini game part and it is mostly fun, even though I play for the “design” part. My biggest pet peeve with this game is the way the money works. I understand you have to make “money” in order to buy these things to design a home. But 1) the price of fixing things continually goes up but they have a cap for some reason at $682 for beating a mini game. I’m not even finished with the game and the house I am renovating is so expensive, I have to beat a minimum of 6 of the matching game or whatever you want to call it just to fix ONE thing. It’s really annoying, and it brings me to my next point. 2) why is the cap at $682????? If you refuse to allow more money to be made as time goes on and the levels get harder, fine. But I can’t understand why when I beat one level with NINETEEN extra turns, I am paid the same amount as if I beat it with like 5 extra turns. I feel like that at least should be a bonus, and it barely is. Overall fun game, but I do think improvements can be made to how money is earned in this game.
