PureFlow 4+

I wanted to do a nice little diagram with boxes that were all the same size, connected by lines. I wanted to be able to line the boxes up as well. I didn't want to put text in, or have an automatic hierarchy; just an empty diagram, please. I couldn't figure out how to do it easily in either of two drawing programs on my Mac, or easily in any of four drawing apps on my iPad.

After an hour and a half of frustration I downloaded this little gem. Within a half hour I had the diagram I wanted, and exported the PDF to Dropbox. It's a specialized tool, but it does what it does very well.

Despite using PureFlow infrequently over the last 3 years, every revisit has been a joyous experience. It’s incredibly intuitive and the user quickly learns the capabilities (and just as importantly the limitations) within the design space. The visual feedback is really good.

I could cherry-pick some minor issues to prevent a 5-star rating, but that would miss the point. I’d like to signal to the creator that I appreciate the engineering involved in this very touch-centric app. I only wish there was a way to make a small contribution for their effort. Truly well done.

This is an app that is designed to do one thing, and it does it very well. I have used any number of high end vector graphics programs in the past to create flow charts and this app handles the taste more elegantly then any of them. Controls are have a small learning curve as you figure out the developers iconography, but the choices are pretty intuitive and after about five minutes of playing around you should be on you way. Thanks for this great app.
