Purple Tree 4+

Definitely the best disk scanner on the app store. The others don't scan my entire disk for some reason. This one scanned my entire disk, and is also by far the most well-designed. It looks amazing, comprehensive and easy to read! As a bonus, you can even watch it tally everything up as you're waiting for it to finish scanning so you don't sit there at a blank screen like other apps. Hands down one of the best mac apps.

I stumbled across Purple Tree for a buck. It’s amazing - also safe for detecting and removing duplicates - and lets you see where the space is being eaten up.

I used to use Grand Perspective.

This alternative is extremely slick and intuitive and amazingly fast.

I used to finally undo the damage that Gemini did to my file system and safely removed the unwanted duplicates while also finding where the space was being wasted.

I wish it could do one more magical thing: allow the user to purge specific purgeable files.

It is an amazing and invaluable tool for you mac. You will not be disappointed. I think that they should charge $4.99 but I would happily pay $9.99. Buy it while it’s cheap!

Scans take very little time to complete, and I haven’t had to grant the app any special permissions (scanned /Library, /System, /Applications, ~ so far). The colormaps, representing the sizes of the sub-folders, are well-labeled and easy to understand. I’m very happy with my $1 purchase :)
