Description

Introducing the latest addition to the quilt design world, Q2.

Quiltler 2 encapsulates all the joy of the original Quilting app while offering an immensely more potent toolset. While the first Quilting app aimed to help you quickly create simple box quilts, Quiltler 2 propels you towards crafting almost any quilt design you can envision, thanks to its sophisticated features. Here's a quick rundown:

Overlap fabrics
Rotate fabrics
Alter colors of default fabrics
Upload your personal fabric patterns
Perform calculations to estimate yardage requirements for a specific design
Quiltler 2 aims to be a haven for quilt design, a playground for your creativity. You're not limited to creating one design per playground. Instead, you can develop multiple designs within a single playground and contrast them to pinpoint your favorites.

Quiltler 2 is still evolving, with steady enhancements underway to incorporate new features. However, it already offers an excellent platform for creativity to flourish, unhindered by spatial constraints.

Happy quilting!

It’s serious effort, like learning EHR software, but the functionality is there

I like what the app can do, but many things require unintuitive steps and have unintuitive labels. The tutorials are fine, but they aren’t arranged in a sequence that goes through the steps of making a quilt using the app. If the videos could start with “Tutorial 1: How to Set the Layout of Your Quilt” then “Tutorial 2: How to Set Blocks in Your Quilt Layout” and then “Tutorial 3: How to adjust borders and sashing” “Tutorial 4: Design a Block” and so on, so there’s some chronology. The basics were difficult to identify among the videos, making getting started a lot of work requiring much patience. I’ve been pushing myself to use Quiltler because I love my iPad and believe I will get faster at creating in the app. Most of the time though I find myself going back to Electric Quilt 5 on my now-retro Windows 2000 laptop.

The action steps to complete tasks in the app are unique. I feel like I am learning how to do simple things that require multiple buttons in an order of multiple steps in a foreign language to my own computer skills.

The block-design in this app also works on an uncommon concept of marking points to be drawn and filled in. This is my least favorite part of the app. I would much rather design my blocks in EQ or Illustrator and be able to bring them into the app than design my blocks in Quiltler. Maybe the future holds updates to this area.

Hi Nicholas thank you for such good feedback, i'm sorry the quilt block design tool isn't great. As a solo app developer engineering designing and building is quite the task. I'm not sure if this will help but you can also create blocks using the playground designer by designing a block there and exporting it as a block (image) and then importing it.

The block designer is actually meant to make more complex blocks that support alpha layers.

My Happy Place

For the short time I’ve been using Quiltler 2, I can say I’m glad I gave it a try. It’s an easy app to learn using the tutorials that are included. Any questions I had were answered in a timely fashion. You can make your blocks and quilts using the templates available or you can Import your own pictures into the app. to use. There are some quilting designs to use and so rewarding to see your quilt finished. I call it my Happy Place, because anytime I’m Quilting, I’m Happy.
Worth trying if you love Quilting.

I tried

I gave up after I couldn’t get through the first tutorial. I understand the need to sell ads, I really do, but the first ad was too annoying (an ad for tires in a quilting app?). Even worse, I couldn’t figure out how long the ad was or if I had to watch the whole thing. Three times I touched the screen and got sent back to the beginning of the first tutorial, where I would fast forward and then get sent back to the same super annoying ad. I gave up and deleted the app. There should really be some instruction on the first few pages because it definitely isn’t intuitive. I feel bad giving the app a one star rating since I didn’t actually get to the part where I could use it, but I don’t think it deserves a 5. Since I have to give it something I’ll meet half way and give it a 3. You’ll have to decide for yourself if you can take the highly ridiculous ads ( or just buy it do you don’t have to decide).

Developer Response ,

Hi Dan, I’m really confused. I thought I completely removed all ads from the free version a long time ago. Please send me an email at chris@quiltler.com so I can look into this. There should NOT be any ads showing up anymore. I also hate ads and so thought I removed all of them but it appears I missed some. 😬.
