more Getting ready to pull my childhood post-war Lionels out of storage for my second childhood ie retirement. Obviously this app is a tremendous upgrade from the old pencil and paper method of design, especially given all the new track systems that have curves of many different diameters. Only been using it a few days but overall it works very well. Relatively easy to choose your preferred brand of track and design a layout. Some things are not totaly intuitive at first but the more I use it the more comfortable I am with how it works. Took off a star because it is relatively expensive but I would add back half a star if I could based upon an experience with customer support: after OS update I had a problem with the app triggering an anti-virus alert and subsequently failing to launch. Contacted support via the website late one afternoon and a solution was waiting in my inbox early the next morning. Cudos! It would be nice if all developers were that responsive. I wish there were a way to generate grades both up and down from a zero elevation. Have been able to work around this with the use of layers but that seems sort of cumbersome. As someone else said, a Save As option in the File menu would be nice to have. And while the Close a Gap feature works well with some track systems like Atlas O which has half curves and various short straight sections, it does not work well at all with Gargraves which has longer curved sections and only a few straight lengths. The latter requires extensive use of the “saw” tool which works but it is very tedious to get a “cut” section the correct length to join within tolerance. A "cut-to-fit" tool would help.

I've been looking for a well written track layout program for the MAC for some time. This program was well worth the wait. It stands head and shoulders above the competition. The libraries are extensive. The features are numerous. The printing function is a joy. Design the layout, print in 1:1 size. Lay the sheets out on the table and place the track on the sheets. No guess work! You know the layout works or doesn't before the first track is laid. Unlike many other apps that promise 'Tech support' will answer your inquiry in a day or two and forget about you, THIS tech support REALLY does return eMails (often times in less than 48 hours) and provide solutions. THAT feature alone is worth its weight in gold. If only more people would encourage the developer to build an iPad version commuting and down time would be more productive.Bravo on a well written app

Granted, I'm a new user, and this is the first model railroad planning software I've used, but the documentation only describes the features, not how to use them. The videos help a lot, but there are only 5! Notihing on how to use flex track. I've stumbled through to discover the radius, arc, and length. Then I used trial and error to fit the flex track into my layout. Smart Insert should be the solution, but there's no explanatioon of what to do after selecting it and several points have green circles. How do you actually then insert the track? No explanation. I've yet to tackle elevation, grade. Please, please put a SMALL amount of time into demostrating making a layout with flex track. a 10 minute video of a very simple layout. That shouldn't take you more than a day to make. Find some users willing to do it for you. I would!

For years I used RR-Track to design several layouts in HO and O Scale. Got to be very well versed in all of its features and options. Got rid of my PC’s and bought a Mac. Great move but RR_Track does not offer a Mac version of there software. Sniffed around on the web and tried a few compeditors. Tried to balance price and features. Came across RailModeller, tried the FREE version and figured it was worth the price so I bought the PRO version. Took a few hours to learn some of the features but I bacame very comfortable with it and am enjoying the process of designing a new 11’ x 22’ HO layout for my basement.Right now the main enhancement that I would like to see would be an expanded library to include maybe 10-15% of the buildings that Walthers offers. The current offerings in RailModeller is very limited.I would recommend this software to EVERY Mac user on the planet.
