Like the other comment stated, " Don't leave home without it." I am from the United States and it has been the most helpful tool on my month trip in the North and South Island of New Zealand. It gives very detailed and accurate places for people to camp or park their cars/campervans around the area. It also provides you with reviews from other people who have been in that campsite. Very useful in so many ways. I talked with one of the creators and they are aiming to improve the app in many ways. By providing people with locations of showers, pools, movie theaters, gas stations, basically anything you would need to find! Sort of like a GPS, but free. I have never been wronged by this app. Get it now if you need to find places to camp in New Zealand! It may take awhile to download due to all the information, but seriously get this app. I have a lot of respect for the creators of it and it is simply the greatest!

Kia Ora to all the nice people who are using this web platform here are my own personal views and hope that they help you navigate this beautiful country, as very few of those lonely planet and trip advisor apps will.If you come here totally as a novice as I was way back in 2017 with a iPhone 6s and none of the back home phone providers would help, we used this app to pin point how close we were to an intended camp ground and just home in to the location it was showing especially in the South Island. With no carrier signals available.Please do upload the off line map and thank Rankers for updating them ever so often. Enjoy!

The Rankers website's campground map page is a great resource (especially if touring in a motorhome) but required Internet access. Most of these sites aren't in TripAdvisor or Lonely Planet. This app gets you the locations and descriptions and user reviews of every camping site in New Zealand. In particular, identification of the free camping sites (really important given the changes in camping laws) all downloadable for offline use (yes, lots of NZ lacks cell data, and even where you have it you might not want to burn it on using the website). Can't quite give it five stars as I have seem some crashes in downloading, but even so, very useful.

We just got back from 10 days in NZ on the South Island. We used this app to identify good campsites, but also to help with navigation. With location services turned on it was a great help for getting around. Suggestions for improvement that would help get it 4 or 5 stars:- when choosing favorite campsites, highlight on the map where favorites were selected, not just in the pop-out side bar. Maybe a new color.- enable a distance calculation without going online. All the info is in the downloaded map, should be able to choose two points and calculate distance.- include simple, local, instructions for finding campsite that does not require Internet access. Address is included, but nothing else like 'on the corner of pine and 3rd, across from the petrol station...'- unclear how to add our ratings or comments on the campgrounds. Should embed the feature so people can do it while at the site.- continue to add activity info - so much available in pamphlets around the country, would be nice to include it in a more friendly fashion.

Indispensable app for road tripping around New Zealand. But,Some things were very broken for me though. Adding reviews seemed like they never posted. This thing would constantly tell me to download maps for places I was nowhere near. And when I moved to the South Island from the north island there was NO way to delete old downloaded maps (they take a ton of space). It’s also very unclear when you’re using offline maps. For the foreigners, please delineate on the map where/what these areas are.

We just returned from three weeks traveling the South Island in a rented camper van. This app was beyond helpful for finding all the things that you need to find when you’re in an area you don’t know. We were mainly Freedom camping and occasional parks. Helpful with both of these + dump stations., etc.,etc. It’s the only one you need!!Thanks Rankers-our trip was so much easier because of you!

The Rankers app has been indispensable throughout my 3wk tour of the South Island. Whether searching for freedom camping, DOC, or holiday park, the app provides the information needed to find the right spot to stop for the night. The amenities and cost info have been helpful, and the reviews helped make the final decisions. Being able to download the full database for the South Island ahead of time meant I didn't need wifi to search for a campsite, which was really handy.

We were in New Zealand from 16 November through 13 December 2016 and used the Camp New Zealand app to explore at the recommendation of Piwiwiwi Campervan. It was such a valuable tool, using the app to navigate our way around both the north and south islands. I liked the simplicity and did not feel overwhelmed with too much information. And to be advertising free is very refreshing. Our campervan was an ideal size and the service by the owners/managers was extremely good.

Unbelievably helpful app! We have been freedom camping around the North Island and this app has been a lifesaver time and time again. Well worth the download for offline mode as it works well and even keeps up with your location on an iPhone even if it is a foreign phone with no cell service.

If you are renting a campervan, or packing a tent, or looking for cabins in the woods; then this is the most helpful app you can download for NZ. The cost may be a little expensive, but when planning my trip through New Zealand, I couldn't have done it without it. There isn't anything out there that is this comprehensive!
