Description

Browse faster! Right inside MacOS Finder, preview your images instantly - complete with metadata, histograms, an exposure summary and focus point display*. Works with Nikon Raw (.NEF), Canon Raw 2 (.CR2), and Sony Raw (.ARW).

Rendering is very fast, so you are no longer made to wait while browsing raw files.

*Metadata includes shutter count for many Nikon and Sony cameras. Shutter count is not available for Canon. Focus point display currently available only for Nikon DSLRs. Focus points are unavailable for the Nikon D6 or Z series. Canon CR3 format not supported at this time.

You can customize the appearance of previews and thumbnails (icons) in Finder with embedded captions that include timestamp, frame number, or file name.

Raw Right Away also provides several utilities accessible directly from Finder's right-click Services menu:

• Apply Camera Timestamp: restores file timestamp to the time of image capture.
• Apply World Timestamp: same as Apply Camera Timestamp, but adjusts for time zone.
• Copy Metadata: copies metadata to pasteboard so it can be pasted into an e-mail message, text document, etc.
• Export Metadata to Tags: creates Mac OS file tags from the image's embedded metadata. Makes it easier to search metadata from the Finder search box.
• Clear Exported Tags: clears Raw Right Away tags. Leaves other tags alone.

Compatibility: Raw Right Away has been tested with raw files from the following cameras:

great overall with two issues

This is a huge time saver and am stoked to find it. It would be 5 stars if you could zoom in on a picture after hitting the space bar to quick look (cmd ) AND if it also loaded the thumbnails in finder quickly. Thumbnails still take a long time to load and sometimes I just want to quickly look through a batch of photos without enlarging with quicklook. Otherwise, it's great and totally worth it!

Works Great!

The app works as intended. RAW files open instantly. I've been using the app for a few years now without any hiccups.

A small problem I've had since preview updated, is when opening a picture it will always be slightly scrolled down into the metadata section. The top of the photo will be cut off and I have to scroll back up to look at it. It's a minor annoyance, but gets frustrating when looking through a lot of photos. I turned off the metadata window for now because of it.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for being a customer. I'm glad you find Raw Right Away useful.

The scroll position problem is an Apple Quick Look bug that first appeared in macOS 10.13. You may notice that it also affects other multiple-page preview generators such as the PDF viewer that ships with the operating system. I am in contact with Apple about this issue.

It works! So much faster now!

I was on the fence if this was actually going to work or not and didn't want to spend $5 only to find out it was a joke but after reading the reviews from others saying it works I decided to buy it. Wow what a difference this app made. Installation was so easy, the difference took effect immediately. Now I can skip through RAW+JPEG's instantly where as before I would skip over the RAW's because they would take so long to display. Great work and thanks a lot for keeping this app updated!
