• Control who the senior can call and who can call the senior.
• Prevent your senior with dementia from calling during specified times of the day or night.

OK, but could be much much better

The good
Simple. Nice to have pictures. Customer service is quick to respond.

Not so good
For such a simple phone, battery life is bad. That makes it a problem when you’re relying on the person with the memory problems to keep the phone charged so often.

No way to adjust screen brightness. I was hoping to do that to try and save some battery life.

No wireless charging option

No way to video call. And it’s not clear that that is not a feature. The phone has cameras, and the caregiver app mentions video calls. But not available yet! This is another key fail.

Instead of two screens to enter contacts and Allowed, it should be enter everything once. I had to enter the contact names, phone numbers, and pictures twice. One for the contacts, one for the allowable list. You should just have a toggle on Contacts that says, allowable? Yes or no.

The phone is only 4G, and only cellular. No Wi-Fi capabilities. If you’re only going to use the cellular network, offer 5G, so that cell reception is better. Or better yet, include an option for Wi-Fi.

Allow greater flexibility on phone features for the phone user and caregiver. Perhaps greater flexibility in the beginning (texting, voicemail, apps), then as the mental capacity declines, the options can be adjusted/removed.

Call history

Lately call history isn’t loading. Have gotten swift response from the team. Told to delete app and then reload. No change. Also, difficult to keep the phone charged. Even put the “sticker “ charger on the outside of the case.
Great concept but still a few glitches.

DOA with new update

Have this phone for my mother in-law since December. For the longest time getting the history was problematic. Called RAZ and they said nothing was wrong on their end and said to uninstall/re-install the App. We did that (wife experiencing the same thing) and no better. A month or so ago they must have fixed their DB because getting history was fast and always worked. Now they need to allow you to delete the history, no need to keep a running, endless history.

Now to the update that rolled out today 5/3/23. They added several new features but when I try to open the app, I just get a blank white screen every time. Obviously the software on the RAZ phone itself needs to be updated for the new features, but they provide no mention of that or a procedure.

As to the RAZ phone for its intended audience, it can’t much simpler for the end user but given that, my mother in-law with Alzheimer's still has trouble. That’s on the user, not RAZ.
