This App has been created by an RC Cars and slot cars hobbyist (myself) that had a need: I wanted to know my lap times when practicing in my local club but the expensive Timing System was not installed. So I created RC Timing.
RC Timing is an App that tracks lap times for radio-control and slot cars. It can be used in both indoor and outdoor tracks.
This App is not intended to replace your club’s timing system. It is thought to help you in situations where you want to practice and the local timing system is not available.
It uses the video camera for tracking the car colors and it offers an easy and intuitive configuration.

Can’t drag car to active section - fixed
Like other would be users, I can’t drag the car to the active section. I am wondering if you need to purchase anything for that to be enabled but it is not clear at all in the description nor in the help section.

Still unable to track the car though, I will do more test perhaps with better lighting and a better tripod to hold the phone over the track.

Sorry for not being that clear! To move the car to the active section you must click in the Edit button (on the top left corner) and then drag the car by pressing the three horizontal lines that appear on the right side of the row. Drag it up to rhe acrive section and press Done when it is there.
Good but wish it had slightly more features
I like the app so far; I haven’t done a thorough test and setting camera car colors seems to be a little hard to get right but I’m figuring it out. I’m a little confused on some of the setup but overall seems very efficient at doing what you need it to do. I have purchased all the in app purchases to help support this team.
Some features that I would love to see
- Formula 1 style Starting Light Sequence when beginning the race
- It would be nice if you could have Driver profiles and could then attach different cars for each event to the driver. I have a lot of friends playing and we all take turns picking different cars. So it would be nice to see driver 1 and then could add car 1 and then the next race we could switch and say driver 1 is driving car 2.. then it could keep track of the driver history and race results.
Must-have app for all RC racers
This app might be one of the most surprising iPhone apps I've ever used. The method by which it works is incredibly ingenious, but I admit I was skeptical at first. My skepticism was unfounded, as it works incredibly well.
My testing was with a mostly solid colored Tekno 1/8 scale buggy. Tweaking the color tolerance and trigger level is really, really important, so don't skip this step. Aside from that, it works exactly as advertised.
