Description

Designed for ReadCube Papers, Enterprise and Anywhere Access customers, the new ReadCube Papers browser extension enhances the workflows in your research lifecycle: from searching and navigating to the full-text, to staying organized, reading and annotating, sharing and collaborating with colleagues, and finally citing papers and generating a bibliography in a manuscript.

• Find papers as you normally would across the web, including discovery sites like PubMed, Google Scholar, Dimensions, BioRxiv and most journal websites. Our extension instantly recognizes if a paper is in a personal or shared library collection for instant access. No more downloading the same paper multiple times.

• If it’s a new addition to your library, save references and PDFs, if available, directly to a personal or shared collection within your library. No more random PDFs piling up in your download folder or desktop.

• If you have the paper in your library, you can enjoy the same Enhanced PDF reading experience through our streamed PDF that opens wherever you are discovering new papers. Hyperlinked inline references, annotation and drawing tools, streamed supplemental files, article metrics, high-res figure browser and more.

• For users belonging to an academic institution subscribing to the Anywhere Access library service, you will see accelerated access to your library’s holdings

• For ReadCube Papers Enterprise users belonging to an organization subscribing to the Anywhere Access document delivery services, you’ll have additional instant purchase option buttons available facilitating full-text access across thousands of journal titles.

Doesn't work anymore in Safari

After installing it, I couldn't find this extension in my papers desktop or online. Even after enabling it in the Safari preferences. It is sad that the new papers has lost the ability to search for papers online in Pubmed for example. Other aspects of the new app work well, but I have to first download articles through Entree PubMed, and then import them into the papers library. An inconvenience. The help functions for this new readcube app are very poor. The videos go way to fast to follow, and the written pages don't jive with the app.

tremendous improvement over papers 2

I run the desktop app just to put a copy of all my books and papers on the Mac. I use papers in Chrome, where everything works perfectly (not all relevant extensions work well in Safari yet; there doesn't even seem to be a Google Scholar extension for Safari). This is much more convenient than using a desktop app, since I search for papers in the browser, and use an extension to add ones I find. Almost everything about Papers 3 is a big improvement over Papers 2. The only major improvement it needs is to get metadata by ISBN for books. You have to lookup the DOI, or put the metadata in by hand.

Just terrible with Safari

Works with Safari Tech Preview but not Safari despite updates. I was a big fan of Papers but ReadCube, though getting better, is just bad. Also their support page often has no answers and just people asking for features to be implemented. I really hope this gets to be functional one day, as the market for this type of software sems to be shrinking.
